Kachinga in Power Boat
you guys see the 34 in this months PB?????that thing is bad for 150K! 500hps, steering, full cabin and a trailer wow!!!!anyone from the west coast know anything about them?I've never seen one out here......
|
From my understanding Kachina is supposed to highly rated for their gel coat work. I guess that unlimited work is included in the base price. Did you get to see the one in Hot Boat last year whith the claw ripping the side of the boat? Really cool.
|
I have been to the shop in Phoenix, can't remember the fellows name, but I stopped by unannounced and he stopped what he was doing just to show me and my buddy around. Very nice work in progress and had some awesome drag boats.
|
that cosmetic stuff would'nt scare me....who's boat does'nt have some waves in it? for that kind of money I can have a new rail stalled! I was looking at new boats a couple years ago and I could'nt touch anything with 500's for that kind of money!
|
Kachina has been around a long time. I visited their shop back in the 70's and was VERY impressed with the gel coat work and graphics. They built really great Calif. river runner stuff back then for very reasonable prices and were totally accommodating. Don't know much about the stuff that they build now but if I were going to spend 150K and liked what I saw in PB, I would definitely call or plan a visit!! --- Jer

Mike we all know that those beekers run lke 100+ with 500's right? just razzin you beek guys havent done that lately damn that felt good!

Originally posted by Canada Jeff Didn't they say in that article that the glass work was a little wavy, and the rub rail wasn't much better. I don't have the mag infront of me but I think its the same boat. They went on to say that the manuf. had adressed these isues. Kinda makes ya a little leary! You are wrong. I re-read the article and nowhere does it say that there were waves in the glass work. That was one of the other boats they tested. I live in Phoenix and I'll go to the shop on Monday and take a few pictures (close-ups.) Kachina has been in business for 40 years continuous. They make a solid boat. Not many boat building companies can claim that kind of success. Kachina is very aggressive in their pricing structure, but that doesn't mean you are getting a "cheap" boat. |
I said I would take some pictures

Hmmmmmmmmmmm
No door on the stabbin cabin.   |
Big west coast boat. Looks nice.
|
Some of these pictures were taken a while back. But you get the general idea. And for your information, they have taken the HP500's out and are installing 496HO's. Here's the kicker...they are going to let it go for less than $100k. Sorry for turning this into an ad, but I thought someone would be interested for that kind of money.
|
Hey Dreamer, here's your next boat :D

I think it looks Great!!!!but like it with the 500's! we need a dealer in Michigan.....

Dyno/Don, The Kachina is a nice looking boat, but It's looks and appearance is way too typical of a west coast/California style boat for me. It doesn't have the appearance of a true offshore. Actually Don, I think your Sonic looks much better than the Kachina design. It's only my opinion.

looks like a Worlock to me.....good lines could lose the platform but the thing that impressed me was the value, find me another boat with 500's steering and a trailer in the magazine for under 150k....most advertised prices in the mags are way high....got to build in the profit margine. I couldnt get a Sonic with 500's for that!!!

Mark And in true west coast styling, Kachina is already tooling another deck for the 34 and they are calling it the Bolero. It will look more like the rest of their line. Both decks will be available as options. |
Where can I get a set of those removable wind deflectors? Those are cool!
|
Payton, I have seen them in the back of the boating mags. I even posted a link to them once when someone was contemplating his decision to buy a Sonic, when his wife wanted a windshield boat. I will see if I can find the link.

Brian, the ones on the Kachina are different. it Looks like there are bars that slide down into a reciever. Windaway clamps to the windshild. Finney makes one that is similar to the one on the Kachina except it mounts to a grabrail.
|
I called Finney's. They make a few windshields for Kachina, but not that one. They said to call Kachina. I'll have to do that.

I read the article in P.B. a very nice ride, it ran 79.4 and the article stated a little chop would have loosened up the hull a bit and added a few miles an hour to the top end, plus the engines were still tight, you can also add a few rpm's when they loosen up, I like it, for the money it is a first class ride

Kachina makes a real nice boat. I have two friends going on their 4th year on a Kachina and they are bullet proof. Plus, the owner Louie will take the extra steps to ensure your happy with every last detail. (Knowing Louie, he will probably be the first one to go party with you on it to)

Having spoken to the owner a few times he did sound like a great guy who stands behind his product better than a few west coast boats I have owned. I would look at them for my next boat.
