I need a Deer jerky recipe

I've got some steaks from last year I need to use so i'm going to make jerky in a dehydrator. I never have, anyone have a good marinade or advice? Thanks.

Tanned Fat, I bet Chris has one. He makes that stuff all the time. Give him a call he LOVES to talk food!

Ingredients
1-1/2 pounds deer steak
1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/3 teaspoon garlic powder
1/3 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon onion powder
Red pepper to taste

Slice steak across grain 1/3 inch thick. Blend sauces and seasonings in bowl. Add steak slices. Marinate for 24 hours. Arrange on baking sheet. Bake at 150 degrees with oven door ajar for 8 to 10 hours or until completely dry, turning every 2 hours.

Serves: 10.

And for something alittle different:

Spicy deer jerky

One jar of Picante sauce
One packet of Chili seasoning mix
optional red pepper
Lean deer meat cut into thin strips.

Mix together in a bowl or large zip lock bag the Picante sauce and the Chili seasoning.
Stir until Chili seasoning is completly mixed with the Picante sauce. Mix in the thin strips of meat and seal container. This is where it is easier to use the ziplock baggies.
Put in fridge over night. After placing the thin strips on your trays you can sprinkle red pepper to taste before dehydrating.

:D :D :D

Step 1: cut deer meat into strips.
Step 2: Feed to dogs or cats
Step 3: COME OFF SOME CASH AND BUY SOME REAL BEEF!!!!!:D :D :D

Just a suggestion (and my own personal recipe) from a beef producer.;)

Also as you are cutting youre meat cut so the grain is across the length as so when you bite it breaks and dosent pull & strech. makes large difference in texture.

You are a red neck when?

Is it road kill again?

LakeRacer 12-14-2002 12:26 AM

Risk Taker has the ingredients :D The only thing I would suggest is putting a teaspoon of liquid smoke into it.
