Warrior 36, Just like any other profession there are good and bad, And it's refereshing to see you understand that and agree that testers should know the rules and test correctly to insure there is no false accusations. However, everyone who owns a boat works hard. I used to work 80-90 hours a week at times, trying to stay afloat running my landscape business, inorder to afford my toys. I could have settled into a $35,000/year, 40 hour a week, job after college, but wanted to make a better life for myself. I chose this profession, same as you chose your's. So if you cannot afford certain things, maybe you should change careers. Just about all of us appreciate and respect the hard work of law enforcement, as I said, it's a hard job. Maybe you should be paid more, who knows. But don't blast people for having nice boats or toys and being able to afford using them. I absolutely apall when peole bang on "the rich" for having money. We all make sacrifices to enjoy life. Besides, I assume many on this board are not "rich", yet make the necessary sacrifices to enjoy their hobbies. All goes back to my first post, when I was complaining about people trying to impede on someones fun, when they are not harming anyone. If you have made the correct choices in your career to earn a nice living, GOOD FOR YOU!!!! Besides, if folks did not make money, then who would pay for the horse s&%t, out of whack taxes, seeing that the top 1% of income earners pay nearly half of the IRS's bill. Let alone boats, gas for boats, trucks to pull boats, storage and service for boats...you get the point. these people keep the economy moving. so don't bang on them, but thank them for helping our country. Sorry about the soapbox, but another one of my untolerated circumstances. I personaly am greatful for police and think they need the support they deserve from the public, seeing as they do their job in accordance with the laws. Have a good holiday......Later

Quite the column.... So far in my little world I have been stopped, searched - just regular mandatory stuff and have never been asked about or scolded about the noise level. Neither has anyone I boat with either. We have similar laws in Ontario but unless you are too close to shore or being an idiot they leave you alone and let you blast away. Hats off to the Ontario Provincial, Barrie, York Region and RCMP police departments..... so far

Allan I appoligize if anyone thinks I am putting anyone down because the income that they make or do not make . I take great offense to someone who makes the typical wannabe toughguy powerboater remarks that they blow more in a day of boating than a law enforcement officer or other public servant makes in year. Yes I am very fortunate to make a very good living in law enforcement on the east coast. I average between 60 to 70 hours a week working to be able to afford a boat that not many people are able to afford or enjoy. But to make the comments that this guy makes and insults not just me but other members in public service (and believe there are quite a few) that are oso members burns me up.Everytime I deal with a person that either I dispise or dislike I do not get on the board and trash them. If I did I would probally insult someone who monitors this board. Have a great holiday and enjoy.

allan4, well said. i never understood something, if cops want respect they should also give it, having a badge doesnt give anyone a right to be a tuff guy. its seem to me some in here that are in law enforcement have opions on everything, and just like [email protected]@ holes we all have them. i dont think being a cop makes your life any more valueable than being anything else, your chosing your career your not being forced into it. as for the boating side, there are some in law enforcement who chose to boat and enjoy it. but you have to admit very few can afford it and it seems they can get a hard on for those of us who have our boats. i am neither braggin or complaining, just saying, not every one wants or can do this boating thing, but if your looking for noise on the water, look at everyone, like the gibison who blast by loud as can be but is let by, if this is truely a law then applie it to everyone, trucks, cars, bikes, boats all must be held to the same stander period. i would hope that if eveyone one on either side loses his or her attitude we would get along better.

Warrior 26, eh, don't sweat it, I understand where you are coming from after you further expained yourself. I guess you hit my "touchy spot" like someone else hit yours. We all work hard and deserve the fruits of our labor. And FLYNLOW003, you are 100% correct about noise restrictions being enforced abroad, if at all. I think the restrictions are ridiculous, unless it's 3Am or something, but it's another way for the buearocrats to dig just a little further into our lives.

Well I think that most of us on here are way to hard on them, they are just doing there job. It is like going to a car lot and getting mad at the sales person because he can't give you the price you want on the car. It is not the sales persons fault the car is marked so high its his managers. Its not the officers fault there is a noise ordinance, and if you have a problem with it you need to talk to the proper people to get it fixed. He is only doing his job, which is to enforce the ordinance. I feel bad for you that he is giving you a hard time but I think you probably knew when you purchased the boat it was barely "legal". I don't think he is just picking on you alone, I think he probably stops ALL the boats he thinks are in violation. Now if he is letting them all go by and just stopping you then you have a valid complaint. So the day he stopped you were you the only boat he stopped for this?

As for the amount of money people make or don't make . . . I have friends that make a lot of money (probably more than most people on this board make) and then I have friends who live pay check to pay check. One thing that I have realized is it doesn't matter how much money you make or what type of toys you can afford if you aren't a good person on the inside you don't have sh*t. SOME (notice I said some) of the comments that have been posted on this post have really put down people who cannot afford the type of boats we have. How do you know they are jealous? I don't think them pulling you over says they are jealous at all it says they are doing their job. Just because we can afford something nicer than someone doesn't mean we are all good people, and some of the comments on here have reflected what type of person some of us are. So get off your high horse because there is always someone who can afford a nicer faster boat than you.

And on another note Todd you are a jerk. Your actions over the past week have really said what type of person you are and it is not a very good one.

HEY SKATERGIRL,
THIS IS THE WIFE OF THE SO CALLED "JERK" YOU WERE REPLYING TO ABOUT HIS PAST ACTIONS. I'M SORRY BUT YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE OBVIOUSLY TO GET HARASSED. WE KNOW THAT THE ASSOCIATION THAT BOUGHT THE POLICE BOAT IS SINGLING OUT THE GO FAST BOATS OUT HERE BECAUSE WE HAVE A VERY CLOSE FRIEND THAT IS ON THAT VERY ASSOCIATION, AND HE HEARD THE PRESIDENT OF THAT ASSOCIATION SAY "THE GUY IN THE WHITE HTM, IS THE GUY I WANT TARGETED, I DON'T CARE IF HE BEATS THE TICKETS IN COURT AS LONG AS HE GETS INCONVIENENCED AND HAS TO MISS WORK FOR COURT". SO HE TOLD US "UNDER THE TABLE", AND IS NOW CONSIDERING SIGNING AN AFFIDAVIT FOR OUR ATTORNEY.
PLEASE DON'T GIVE US THAT "YOU SHOULD OF KNOWN WHEN YOU PURCHASED YOUR BOAT THAT IS WAS BARELY LEGAL", THAT'S LIKE SAYING ,"UM SORRY BUT THE PORSCHE THAT YOU JUSTED PURCHASED THAT GOES 160MPH, IT'S BARELY LEGAL" OR THE HARLEY DAVIDSON THAT YOU JUST PURCHASED THAT HAS THE HIGH DECIBEL READINGS, IT'S BARELY LEGAL. SO LADY I THINK YOU NEED TO GET OFF YOUR "HIGH HORSE".
AND I WOULD LIKE TO APPOLIGIZE FOR MY HUSBAND IF HE TOUCHED A SOFT SPOT ON SOMEONES POCKET BOOK. WE ALL KNOW THAT MONEY MAKES THE WORLD GO ROUND AND EVERYBODY CAN NEVER MAKE ENOUGH (EXCEPT FOR MAYBE BILL GATES) BUT ANYWAY THAT'S IS WHY HE THINKS SOME OF THE "LAW ENFORCERS" PICK ON THE GO FAST BOATS. NOT ALL OF THEM DO BUT WHEN YOU HAVE AN ASSOCIATION BUY YOU A BOAT TO GO AFTER CERTAIN BOATERS. I GUESS THEY ARE JUST LIKE LITTLE PUPPETS FOR THEIR PUPPET MASTERS.
WE HAVE NOTHING AGAINST MOST OF THE POLICE AROUND HERE. SOME OF OUR FRIENDS ARE POLICE, BUT IT'S THE ASSOCIATION THAT STARTED ALL OF THIS. MOST OF THE BOATERS IN THIS AREA ARE VERY EXPERIENCED AND KNOW WHAT'S RIGHT AND WHAT'S WRONG AS FAS AS WHEN TO "RIP" DOWN THE RIVER AND WHEN NOT TO. I JUST THINK THAT IT'S A LITTLE TOO MUCH FOR THE BLUE HAIRS TO HANDLE. NOT EVERYONE ON THE ASSOCIATION IS A BLUE HAIR (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE), BUT THEY WERE ALL YOUNG ONCE TOO. LET US ENJOY A LITTLE.
AS FAR AS WARRIOR36 GOES,MY HUSBAND WOULD LIKE TO APPOLIGIZE FOR OFFENDING HIM, HE NEVER MEANT TO. MY HUSBAND WAS REFERRING TO THE POLICE THAT WERE BEING RUDE TO ME AND THE KIDS. WE'RE NOT HEAR TO PISS ANYONE OFF. MY HUSBAND REALLY ENJOYS THIS SITE AND IS ON IT EVERY NIGHT.
AND SKATERGIRL, THERE WAS NO REASON TO GO CALLING MY HUSBAND NAMES, YOU DON'T KNOW HIM PERSONALLY. THAT JUST SHOWS YOUR MENTALITY. NO HARD FEELINGS WARRIOR36 AND MY HUSBAND LAUGHED ABOUT THE "PAPER ROUTE" THING,AND SAID"NICE ONE" WITH A SMILE ON HIS FACE.
ANYWAY WE HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH AN ATTORNEY NEXT MONDAY AND HOPEFULLY THIS MESS WILL CLEAR UP.

I didn't see Bad HTM dissing law enforcement in general. What it seems to be is that he is dealing with a group of individuals who have perhaps "bought" their own little police department by purchasing a new boat for the waterway cops. I personally would find this to be a little frightening. If a small group of affluent people can dictate orders to what is supposed to be an impartial and fair entity (law enforcement) then I'd say things are very wrong where Bad HTM lives. And if an officer is actually taking direction from this group of people then he shouldn't be in law enforcement.
That aside, if your boat is over the legal db level it needs to get fixed. If I were to get pulled over in my car for having a loud muffler and received a ticket for it, I guess I wouldn't get too worked up if a week later I didn't have it fixed yet and got another ticket.
Hope everything works out...keep us advised.

I think this kind of thing is completely unecessary...Todd has apologized for pooping off a little more than he should, and that should be the end of it. Skatergirl, get over yourself...if you're not into somebody's thread, DON'T ADD TO IT!

We are all here as offshore fans, leave it at that.
