I just bought an 03 X Limited. Traded a 01 Subturdan. Get the Oil Burner or you will be soory. On the 6.0 I hear it is pretty much maxed out right now. The 7.3 is only running at 60% of its full potential so the real PSD guys are saying the 7.3 will have more room to grow. The 6.0 is of course smaller but has more power. The problem is there is not much more room to grow. The 03 also has a $2,000 rebate which makes it really worth it. The truck is big but not too big. I would not even look at a GMC, they are weak and small with no possible Diesel even in the 3/4 ton. The factory DVD is awsome

I have an '01 Excursion V-10 . Not one problem, Love it. You can haul 11 adults, pull a 40' foot boat and yank down the side of a barn all at the same time. I installed an Airaid Spooler and a K&N FIPK GenerationII intake which gets me 10/14 with 20" wheels and 325x50's. The 14 MPG is locked on 55 MPH. 13 MPG @ 60 MPH & 12 @ 65 MPH. Just my .02

Rides like a pickup? It's based on the F250 framework, so I would imagine it should. Hardly a bad ride though, and that's with REAL truck axles and suspension parts. It's made to do the work of a truck, but give a more than acceptable ride for an 8200# truck. IMHO, GM lost sight of what the Suburban was originally made to do, and I've owned a couple. They also have forgotten a lot about QC.
I don't have any problems with the turning radius either- it's definitely liveable, and an improvement over my F350 dually. Maybe not as good as the Suburbans' turn radius, but you could damn near put that vehicle inside of the "X".
Buy it, you'll love it!

I have a 2000 Excusion diesel with 100hp chip, 5" exhaust, tv's in the headrest, 12 thousand pound winch etc. I have pulled a 42' Sonic all over the place with no problems. A good solid truck. The only thing that pulls better is my F-350 dually with a 130 hp chip and exhaust. Good luck you will kick a suburbans tail!

2000 V-10 here...50k miles and no problems other than the door lock actuators going south a month or so ago ...I would go for the PSD though as has been said the resale will be higher.....as far as ride We think it is awsome and it is my wifes daily driver..the turning radius is great too...never have had a problem with being able to park or whatever...although we have had our fair share of double cab duallies....so we might be easy to please in those regards......CHEVY SUCKS !!!! (long story-stories)

Hey Guys, thanks. Looks like we'll be going w/ the PSD, which I might say is not easy to find in our area. We were hoping for a Limited but only found an EWddie Bauer in white w/ the tan running bds., etc... I'll let you all know when it's here.

fatdaddy, I test drove a Used V-10 Eddie Bauer (Hunter Green) at Tom's Ford in Hazlet NJ. It had 20K miles on it and was going for 29K. If Used is ok, it may still be there? My cousin is the sales manager there as well. We were looking for a used PSD, which would have been my motivation to buy the Excursion but couldn't find one anywhere. I am sure he could special order a new one though.

Panther, thanks for the heads up but, b/c of the trade, I have to go new. I appreciate the lead and if my deal falls through, I'll give him a call.
