POLL: REAL or FAKE....

...Christmas trees you sex hounds!!

Went out this weekend and got our tree - now it'll be 4 hours decorating it!:D :D 1 hour of decorating time - 3 hours drinking while doing it!!:p
I love the smell of pine - just hate needles all over the place and the g/f is of course afraid of burning the place down somehow.

packinair 12-16-2002 05:01 PM

no tree here... BAH HUMBUG!!!

High Quality Fake ones just look better!!! for Xmas trees too:D :D

Fake tree takes less time and hassle to set up and take down without the mess. If you like the smell of pine, just light a the right scented candle.

Real Blue Spruce

14' tall

cut it myself, in the snow, while knawing on beef jerky

(kind of a Michigan redneck tradition around here. ask Waterfoul)

only traveled 3.4 miles from my house to the Christmas tree farm

$20 any size - beat that price Californians!!!!!!

if I knew how to minisize the pic of the thing, I would post it

I got a real one this year and left the toilet brush up in the attic. Mine's about 10 foot tall.

Big tree (12-13')...Big dog...decorated by 3 little kids.

I was raised with a fake tree; with get this... about 10 different old fashioned Christmas Tree farms within 10 miles; (including Payton's).

Since I moved to VA, I have been getting real ones. We went out a few nights ago to get one, to a new Xmas Tree seller. This was their first year venturing into trees for the Holidays. It was late, and they were close to the house, so we paid a bit more for a bit less tree, but it looks nice. The worst problem was you had to have a truck to get into the lot. The tires of the AV sunk into the mud up to the rims. We all had to take our shoes off, and leave them in the back, (damn if that mud was getting in MY truck).

Real. Kinda' our family tradition. Dave M's right. The fake ones are like toilet brushes... LOL :D  :D

CRUBOSS 12-17-2002 09:49 AM

i pulled a fast one. took a ride out to the state park and cut one down when no one was looking. and saved big bucks......lots of fun too. hey , hey , hey , it's ranger smith !

cgarrett 12-17-2002 09:53 AM

I did real until 4 years ago then I went fake.
The fake one breaks down into 3 sections. I wired the lights so that I can leave them on every year and just have to disconnect them from the extention cord with several outlets that I run up the center of the tree. If you want smell burn a candle or spray it out of a can. I store it in a big rubbermaid container.

My wife likes to start decorating right after Thanksgiving so it can go up early and be enjoyed longer. No more messing around to find the right tree and shelling out for it. No more re cutting the tree because it looked smaller in the field or the tree lot
:o
No more itching or scratched arms. No more sap. No more screwing around with a tree stand that won't hold the tree up. No more pine needles all over the place. No more worrying if the tree is drying out to much causing a possible fire hazard. No more trying to wrap those strands of lights back on the original containers when it has to come down. No more taking the tree to a disposal site to get rid of it and having to clean out the bed of the truck from the mess.

Hey CRUBOSS, you have real ones in FLA? We used to do the same thing until my dad got caught with a 20 footer. He paid a $20 fine (this was in 1970) and took the tree. We used to trim it in the house with a chainsaw:eek: I always get real ones. You have to do the hot coco and donut thing with the family and friends or it just doesn't seem like christmas. Hey Rambo, I can't hang with ya anymore dude, you are way to back woods for me. I bet you and Ted K will look alike in a few years. And no I will not help you build a wood shed in the back yard. It is time to move back to the city so you don't revert to living in a hole in the ground. What would Linda think of your beet red neck?

CRUBOSS 12-17-2002 10:20 AM

DID you ever see the tree in " a charlie brown christmas" ? if you have . now you know what kind of trees grow in florida.

formula31 12-17-2002 12:59 PM

I still use candles on my tree. Old german tradition. Also caused the Hindenberg disaster (regardless of what the media says) LOL

Budman 12-17-2002 03:37 PM

Both!!

I was going to vote twice, but apparently the board has the "anti-Florida-poll-system" in effect! :D

We have a 10 foot fake one upstairs (looks like something from the mall - actually is a pretty nice one), and an real one in the basement family room decorated with all of the old family hand-me-down ornaments. Of course, I had to put the lights on both of them, along with the outside lights, but that's what I do to earn brownie-points for boating in the summer.

Same here. Last year we were late in motivating to get a tree.....we were busy taking delivery on the new boat. By the time we turned our attention to a tree, the selection was pitiful. My wife, not to be denied, happened upon a fake on at Rite Aid of all places. I was a bit upset until she told me that she only paid 15 bucks for it. I just had to laugh!!

Trouble is, after we got it up and decorated I was amazed. It looks like a perfect little (6') Xmas tree. I have to say, I am now a bit of a convert. It is perfect for 2 dinks with busy work schedules.

Next year she wants a real tree?!

I think this is the last year for real for me and my wife
Freakin dog knocked the real SOB over 2 days ago and I have been picking broken glass out of the carpet since.
Nothing like wearing socks and stepping on that bastard freakin needle that decides to say im invincible and shove itself about 1/4 inch or so into the bottom of your foot :snide:little prick PUN INTENDED

I think im going on the hunt after xmas this year for one of those fiber optic trees that you dont have to put lights on, just plug the SOB in and it sort of has a color wheel in there.
I had to anchor the damn live tree to a stud in the wall with a wonderful hole in the drywall (moved a big picture to do this) and have a 1 inch eye hook driven into about 2 inches of stud

I think that this is about it for the live BS
it is a fun occasion to go and cut it down with the wife and spend the day drinking hot cider and walking around at the tree farm but ahhhh
how about this as a substitute,
make a fire, have some sex, and look at a phoney tree and put a big red bow on my ............:snide:

HEHEHE

Use real "Fraiser Fir". But it may be the last! The damn prices this year are way too high, and fewer places selling them. That drives the price up!
