Transom Savers ??
1 Attachment(s)
Have any of the members on this board used these trasom savers, you know the device that hook on to the lower unit of an outboard, and the trailer.
I was wondering if they work, and if it is really worth getting ? Any thoughts would be appreciated |
Yes it works. Saves the transom from cracking and save the outboard bracket from braking
|
would they be useful on I/O's??
I know they make the snap in clips for the trim rams, I have used them. but on the first trip to LOTO 3 of the 4 broke :( The roads were so bad they must have bounced like hell. This year I broke 2 of the 4 on the way back from LOTO :( I have truly thought about this arm for use on my twins. Lets hear it |
Did you trim the drives down for a snug fit ?
|
I started using the trim ram clips after the check valve went bad and I dragged my skeg. Lesson learned.
|
yes i did
I have used the clips for years on all of the i/o boats I have used on my old o/b I used the above bracket similar to it. Bever had a problem I just think the roads were so bad in Mo that they had to she me who was boss. I-70 is a really rough road :( between there OK City and Albuquerque those are the 3 worse roads i can remmeber ever traveling with my boat :( the clips i had tha broke first where 3 years old and had been used consistantly when road traveling. i thought maybe there were just old and could not take it anymore. But then the ones broke again this year. They were only 5 months old :( |
Sorry to hear about your skag. We had one that came in the shop that the owner ran a screw in his side panal and the screw nicked the trim wire. Down the road he went and the wire shorted out and the pump ran in the down position and the skag was total gone. Also half of his prop, gears, and housing totaly gone bad sight. Looked like some took a saw and cut it in half
