Wylie Nagler who owns Yellowfin is one of my best friends. He used to own the Havoline S-28 raceboat. In the past 3 years his boats have won the pro division in 2000 and were runner up in 2001 and 2002. YES there is a whole lot of money to be made fishing. First place at an average tournment is around 20grand BUT there are 60-100+++++ boats at these tournements. The boat that is the fastes does have alittle better chance because they can fish more area. The 36 that he and Sandy Smith fished in this year had triple 300X Mercurys, Latham Controls, Latham steering, CMC Jackplates, full electronics and ran over 70MPH this boat is around 200 grand. It is currerntly for sale I think, for less than that though.

Cat if there are 100++ serious fishermen in these tournaments that want the fastest & best FISHING boat and there are no COBRAS what does that tell you ? I don't think you'll see 100 out of a 36 with 300 either!

Hi Ryan the reason I asked was upon my first arriving back in the states one of the SKA guys called me and asked if there was interest on my part to do a boat (they would do the entire deck layout and me the Bottom and Building)

I've seen some of there race boats and there fishing boats both the 30's and 36's. I've never fished out of either. What I am saying is even with all of the articles there were published on the Cobra's you think people would be fishing them if they were SOOOO great...right? I know there boats are built VERY sturdy and have never seen one come apart. Sandy Smith who now fishes a Yellowfin had an ACTIVE THUNDER 32 CAT that they marketed as the King Fish cat Lake X rigged it with twin 300's big things were promsed but it didn't live up to the expectations. Sandy then got a Fountain now he has his 3rd Yellowfin on order.

Ryan what confuses people is the fact that a real fishing boat must work at/in all practical speed ranges with the desired dry soft ride;

Not 100 mph which is no problem BTW but again not useful as say fuel efficiency in a center console fishing boat.

We have a real good outfitter down here by the name of Fred Herman there is a lot of science in some of those fishing boats.

I spoke with a friend of mine who has rigged a few of the Cobra fishing boats. He couldn't say anything good about them! He said that you need a mask and snorkle to drive one that's how wet they are. He also shot down the 100 mile an hour theory.
