the 38 eagle would be good with you living on the west coast or you could buy a nice 96 top-gun !!

look at the deck on 388's they have raised bubble looking things in the decks if you look flat at the level of the deck ,the glass work quailty is just not there for a high end boat and over 100 its watch out unless you rework the bottom like
the boat black cloud with a total rework of the bottom .

stay with scarab or eagle or top -gun
just my pennies worth

Default CHOICES?

Dear Baddasschevy,

I would check out the 37' AVH Active Thunder. As far as performance goes it is a real screamer! You would be absolutely blown over by the way this boat runs in any sea condition. The cabin down below is roomy, plush, and has all the ammenities you could want.

NO RATTLES on my boat. The door is on a track so if you get out in that rough of stuff it will bang arround a little. But I usually cant hear much since at that speed the exhaust is open and then you only hear the wind and the engines scream.

Wow, I don't envy your position, lots of good feedback here. I guess it's a good problem to have though.

After reading more of your replies I wouldn't rule out Cigarette as Tbone suggests. Otherwise I think the Scarab or Formula would be where you make your choice. Personally from those 2, I like the Scarab but I'm partial having owned a couple. Like jb said, I don't think you'll find a better ride and overall good performance for the dollar with a Scarab. We have a few of the 38 Formula's here on the bay, nice boats too with A/C and a couple have Genny's. They too ride nice in rough water, heavy boats.

As someone else suggested, don't buy anything until you've had a chance to take a ride though. It sounds so very elementary, but it might help to jot down what you're priorities are, i.e.:
  • Speed
  • Cockpit (overall space, storage space, room for guests, etc.)
  • Fit and Finish
  • Looks & overall appearance
  • The Ride (tendency to launch, smooth, rough, etc.)
  • Amenities, Creature Comforts
  • Comfort and Feel at the helm
  • etc., etc., etc.

Good luck in your search and don't be in a hurry.

Interesting thread...... Heres my thoughts:

The Hustler- Very fast, good looking, but a thin hull, handling problems, and poor re-sale.

The Formula- Great boat, looks good, handles great, has all of the comforts-A/C Gen, tv, etc.

The Scarab- Looks great, fast, handles very well in rough water,
nice cabin, but without all of the luxuries of a Formula.

I would buy a slightly used one, but get a step hull and the 500efis are great motors. Good luck!
