Need New Spark Plug Wires...suggestions?
I'm looking for a new set of spark plug wires for my recently upgraded Gen6 502mag EFI. Should I go with a new set of the original Mercs? Perhaps a new set from a 500HP EFI? Or other aftermarket manufacturer? How much should I pay for a complete set? Any and all suggestions welcome!!!
Thanks, Dave |

Spark Plug Wires
Hello Guys,
I have tried almost every plug wire you can name. Accell is OK, so is MSD and Moroso. The ONLY wire we recommend and use on our personal stuff is Taylor. Taylor wires are a better material, the plug boots are MUCH more heat resistant, and they are the only ones I have to replace because they are dirty-never broken or cracked, or deteriorated. Their wires are expensive, but they last years and years-I don't know how long-in at least 4 seasons I have not replaced but one set-they were dirty and the customer wanted a different color!!! I like to use two sets-one with 90* plug boots and the other with 45* plug boots. If you have twins, get a set of each. The 45* go on the odd number side of the engine. They are a bear to make up but worth it!!!!!!! Look in Summit or maybe Jegs. They are about $95.oo a set- but you'll never need another set!! pm me for more tips or better prices-my fingers are tired:o :) |
yes the taylor wires are great I use their "409" 10mm wires and they are bomb proof ,heat and oil also !!;) ;) ;)

I also have had very good use out of all the Taylor Spiro-Pro's I have used on the street and will buy a set for the boat when I build the new motor for it. They are $55 in the Summit Catolog. Charlie

It's pretty obvious by the replies that Taylor will be the manufacturer I go with. Does anyone have a part number to use for a big block application or do you usually cut your own to length?
Thanks for the replies and keep them coming!!!! Dave |
MSD or Taylor, MSD being our first Choice.

CHARLIE CUT TO LENGHT ,AND ORDER THE LOOMS FROM SUMMIT AS WELL IT REALLY LOOKS SHARP-------- PRO-409 WIRES TAYLOR
|
I Like MSD 8.5mm and don't forget Wire separators I use two sets to keep the wires separated and looking neat.
Alos lots of dielectric grease.;) ;) |
