SeaRay Pachanga

1 Attachment(s)
Anybody have any experience with the SeaRay Pachanga? I believe that they built a 19, 22, 27, and 32 ft. Correct me if I am wrong. I think they were built from the late 80's into the very early 90's...is this correct? Why did they discontinue?

I sell SeaRay's but only the Sport Cruisers, however, I have a customer that was looking for a 32ft. with twin big blocks. From my little experience with the Pachanga, I think they were very heavy and slow with no lift.

Thanks for any info.

Talk to G-Force on this board. He currently owns 2 of them, and I'm sure he'd part with one. I've ridden on his briefly, seemed o.k. to me.....a bit top heavy maybe.....but not a bad ride.

I had a 27 with twin 270 hp, it was a nice boat but I did have my
fare share of problems. Bottom was replaced 3 times. I also had 3 friends with them 1 with a 22 that had no problems but 2 with
32 that were a mess.

the pachanga mold is now and Envision if i am not mestaken

We have a 22 Pachanga as our second boat. It has a 350 Mag and man, what an incredible little boat it is! They are very well thought out and put together nicely. Ours runs 64 mph ON GPS!!! no BS!!! Rock steady ride and a windshield that actually works. I`m extremely impressed with the 22.

Kurt.

G-Force 12-28-2002 04:05 PM

Yep - I own 2 Pachanga's - both 32'. My buddy liked mine so much he went out and bought a single engine 27'.

The 32' isn't a speed demon by any means - 60mph on the stock 330hp/454 with the right props.
They are heavy, solid boats - I boat on small waterways most of the time so never really get to pound big waves except for when I took mine down to LOTO - it handled the weekend waves down there just fine.
Except for the fact that my beloved white one SANK this summer (hole in bellows) I never had one problem with the boat and would recomend them to anyone.
I'm 6'4 and have slept up in the forward V-berth quite comfortably and the cabin is pretty nice.

Does your customer want to get a really, really good deal on a green, 1987 Pachanga? I seem to have a spare boat at the moment and I need to dig up some cash to repair the slightly soggy white Pachanga I have. :D ;)

1Malibu 12-28-2002 04:50 PM

What are the specs. on your green one? Engines, maintainence, condition, etc....

Are you running the same setup in both?

Thanks for all the info.

PhantomChaos 12-28-2002 04:52 PM

I thought the Pachanga was a Latin dance.........Jeffrey, Kenny and I tried over and over to learn it.

there is what I belive to be a 29' that runs out here with T 454 mags and I have seen the radar gun in the low 70's

delsol 12-28-2002 07:06 PM

There's a 32 for sale here, it was on the lift next to me this year. He just moved up to a 38 scarab. If you're interested pm me and i can get you in touch with him. It's very clean, with 2 year old paint.

jafo272 12-28-2002 07:39 PM

Malibu: I heard that Brunswick corp. didn't whant Sea Ray and Baja to compete with each other in the sport-perfomance line.
Not sure if this is true but does make a little sense.

Test drove a 27' with a single, did not like the ride the boat seemed top heavy and felt ackward.

mcollinstn 12-29-2002 02:06 PM

we had a 32 on our lake that had 174 blowers on top of 454 mags. Still would only run 71. He upped the boost and melted a piston. Got sick of it and got a 42 trip fountain.

Nice boat the pachanga, just not fast.

russ7r 12-29-2002 04:34 PM

What is the price on the 32? I would like to move up in size myself.

Thanks

Russ

The Envision people swear that the only thing in common with the Pachanga is the windshields. Check where the port and starboard hull meets at the bow and you can see some major differences.

I had a 27 Fanatsea open bow (what a coincidence, Sea ray also called one of their boats a Fantasea). It was incredibly solid, rode fantastic, but required 450 hp to get it to go 65.

Sometimes I really miss that boat!

Dixie Doug 12-29-2002 07:48 PM

The boat in your picture has twin Alpha's(no even counter-rotating) 1987's had 454's with Alphas:( I haven't seen one with external steering, they chine walk bad with horsepower.

Dude, there is a 32 Pachanga on Lake Cumberland that is awesome. Completely re-done, re-painted, new interior, new dash, full gaffig, low profile plexy windshield, land & sea standoff boxes, full hydraulic steering and twin 575hp tunnel ram motors. Boat runs a solid 80 GPS. Owner removed a minimum of 800 pounds of junk and has only toasted one drive so far.

Send me your e-mail address and I will send you pictures.

VelocityMike 12-30-2002 09:58 AM

My dad has a 32 that will be going up for sale in a month. Big Blocks with bravo drives with about 175 hours each. The boat just needs a good cleaning and is sitting on a triple axle I beam trailer. I am not sure of the price I will call him today to ask. The boat is a good built boat with lots of room the reason for selling is its to big for him.

rnanaples 02-14-2009 03:31 PM

Actually they were very well made boats and very fast hp for hp against anything. the 32's I was on were alll upper 60's low 70's with stock 330's

Edward R. Cozzi 02-14-2009 10:06 PM

My first boat was a 1970 18' Pachanga. Single 225 hp 327 Chevy/MerCruiser II outdrive.

They made this as the first generation Pachanga in 1969, 1970 and 1971. It was also offered with a 455 Olds/Berkeley jet drive.

After 1971 the model name was dropped until 1986 with the emergence of the 22' Pachanga II. Then in 1987 came a 19', 22' and 32' version. The 19' was dropped for 1989 and a single and twin version were offered of a 27' starting in 1989.

I believe the last Pachangas were built in 1991, as I can't find anything newer in my archives.

Sea Ray's brief foray into the performance boat market was less than successful enough for them to keep marketing Pachangas. Many felt the first generation Pachanga was years ahead of its time in styling and performance.

I recently surveyed and sea trialed a 22' Pachanga with a big block and a Bravo 1. It was a joy to drive, really performed well and felt solid.

I don't remember surveying a 19', 27' or a 32', but I'll check my records for you.

I thought I read this winter that Sea Ray is bring bACK THE Pachanga once again.

Jayhawk04 02-15-2009 08:59 AM

Yup... It's back...

New Pachanga

AppSysCons 02-15-2009 03:14 PM

I owned a 1989 27 Pachanga with T/merc 350mags (270hp), back in summer 89. Nice sport boat. I only had her the summer (3 months), and got the itch for an offshore style boat. Purchased a 1990 F-311 Formula T/454mags (375hp) on Sep 1989. For me thats where it all started the 27 Pachanga.

Well made, Ok. But not a performance boat. I never saw one go 70 except while being towed down the highway.

Cousineau181 06-01-2010 09:43 PM

I have no real complaints with my 27' besides the lack of speed. With everything perfect she will work her way up to 60 with twin 350 mags/270hp approx. 850hrs. They are definitely a heavy boat, but brake the chop nicely and have a decent amount of cabin space.

Gillagorilla 06-01-2010 10:19 PM

Back in the late 90's my first boat was an '87 22 II with a 350mag. If I remember correctly it was around 60-61 on gps. I loved that boat, very fun for my first boat and actually wish I could find one for couple grand that needs a new engine that I could do myself. Ahh the good times.

pachanga27 07-19-2010 08:37 PM

I have a 1988 Pachanga 27 for sale if anyone is interested. PM me.

I bought a 19 ft pachanga back in 1976 that was 2 years old.The boat was purchased at Montrose harbor in chicago from the VP of Johnson&Johnson. I payed 5000 thousand for it back then. The boat had 460 hp Ford power plant with

1972 19ft Sea Ray Pachanga

Bought it used in 1976 from the VP of Johnson&Johnson in Chicago for 5000 dollars. color was white with a grape fruit color interior, and a black racing stripe off centered on the bow. The boat had a 460 hp ford engine, and a Berckly jet, Hydrolic trim tabs. Boat drafted 18 inches, and a 30 gallon fuel tank. came with a tandom axil trailer with serge brakes. A very heavy, but stable boat. Top speed 74 mph,and would seat six adults. For its time that was a very fast and sexy boat. I was told by SeaRay engineers in Florida that it was a proto type, and they wanted to know how i got the boat, and asked to drive it, they told me how rare the boat was, and how lucky i was to own it, this was in 1979.iam sorry that I sold it, Now I have 2 Bahas

RaggedEdge 05-28-2011 10:18 PM

Had an '88 32 Pachanga w'454/330's. Was a quick boat for what it was back in it's day. Ran low 60's with a fairly comfortable ride and one hell of a great cabin. Had it for many years, ran over 500 hours on it, and enjoyed every minute with it. Moved on to the Velocity when I felt the need for more speed, then to the Fountains for more of the same plus the better ride and handling. The Pac was a great boat, still miss that cushy cabin.

In their day they would hold their own with most out there with equal power. Sea Ray just got out of what they felt was a small market segment. They did bring it back a few years ago, it was just a
Sea Ray 'ised version of a Baja hull, Brunswick family cross over deal. Never did much of anything.

Randy Nielsen 05-29-2011 03:34 AM

Dont want to steal this thread bu I have a 1990 260 OV that I was told has the same bottom as a pachanga. It is heavy but rides like a caddy & the overall design is cool

What do you mean the bottom was replaced 3 time the fiberglass or do you mean the lower ends? I just picked up a 88 pachanga 32 and it seems to be a great boat just not so smooth in real big waves.

Wobble 08-18-2014 09:15 AM

My friend has owned a 27 for 10 years 550hp single runs mid-60's any day and rides well for it's length. I believe they were wood free construction, at least the transom. Certainly would consider one, roomy for a 27.
