Cincinnati Riverfront Stadium Implsion
They dropped the old warrior this morning, I was there to watch it. Really cool thing too see. Mixed emmotions, but neat to see them implode this 60,000 capacity stadium into a neat little pile of iron. My entire life that Stadium has been a landmark on the river. If I knew how to post a link, I would. I am not much of a computer guy though. Someone give me a hand here:D :D :D !!!!
Thanks, A4 |
They imploded the old Capital Center, in MD, outside of DC a few weeks ago too. Also more recently known as the USAir Arena. Indicative? I wonder?

We were there... I certainly had mixed emotions... Before I was all for the new Stadiums (our Family had tickets before they even built Riverfront), but now I am very dissap. The Bengals Stadium, win or loose is a piece of junk on the inside and went so overbudget it will be imploded before it is paid for, and the GAB is so small. Great for reg season, but what about the penant races and World Series games. I remeber them sweeping the A's in the Series and that place rocked. The new place couldn't make that much noise if everyone had a trumpet. Maybe I set my standards too high, but I certainly do not see how we are ahead of where we were 3 years ago Stadium wise.

Originally posted by Troutly Ha! They suck even worse than the Vikings! :D Chris, I agree totally. I voted for and was excited about the new stadiums. PB stadium looks like a parking garage on the inside and Great American Ballpark is not really "accoustically beneficial", nor is PB for that matter. Old Riverfront used to rock, THE JUNGLE!! Those were the days. I already miss the old *****. PB needs some colors and GAB......remains to be seen. I hope that Cincy gets back on the map as a professional sports town. Both franshises have had great success at times, hope it retruns, it is so much fun that way!!! Todd, I watched it from land. Were quite a few boats out there though.......;) |
I hope you "suckers" enjoy paying for Mike browns little "toy" !!!
He gets his $ no matter what !!!!!:D |

uhhhhh Chris.........
I hate to tell you this............but.......... It is in the contract with Hamilton County............ Brown gets his $............full or not !!!!!!!!!! Dumbest thing i ever saw !!!!!!!!! Also.....NO other events allowed without his say so !!!!! I lived in Hamilton county when this happened...Voted NO !!!!!1 |
Brown gets most of his money from the NFL full or not.
In the news... The County is going to sue him if they do not renegociate that part of the deal. AND they make their profit off the seats they sell. Most of the money comes from the TV contract with the NFL, but if they do not sell seats they loose money. |
Concessions and parking as well. His garauteed sellout clause is void after the 2002 season. The great equalizer however is the NFL revenue sharing. The strong arms of rev sharing, and only the strong arms of rev sharing, have impeeded on the direct one way train to bankruptcy for Mike Brown. His only business is a complete failure and the joke of the industry. Any other business run with such cynical, outdated operations would be driven into the ground in less than 1 year. Period.
He is an absolute embarrassment to the NFL, his family and our great city. He should be run out of town on a rail. We can yell and scream all we want, we can not show up for games all we want. The bottom line is that this stubborn, ignorant, nieve old man has control over the largest PR tool in the city and there ain't a whole lot we can do about it, becasuae the NFL garaunteees his income. Sure, if only 10k show up to each game, then that will certainly help, but ultimately he is in control and is one of the top 5 most finacially stable NFL franchises. Personally I think sacrificing my pride, my family name and the acheivements of a legend (his Dad) is not worth the extra percentage of $$. He makes 18 million a year. It's a joke, and the only person more hated in Cincy than Mike Brown is Osama. Infact, that is a close race. True shame the greedy old bastard is ruining a great sports town rich in tradition. We have yet to sell our season tickets(49 yard line, Bengal's side, row 22), but it is being considered after the news today that little changes will be made, and no front office changes are going to be made. The man is a menace. By the way birddog, you are paying as well if you purchase any taxable item in Hamilton Co.:( |
I know allen......
I try to buy out here in "gods" country !!!:D BTW......well said ! |
Good idea.........man, it's so fun when they were great. Someday when he is gone it will be great again......;)
|
