"The ditch in the desert"

One question......does anyone that frequents Havasu know what a TREE is??? I thought not.

Semper Fi 12-30-2002 02:25 AM

Can't we all just get along???

The "ditch" was alive and well this weekend. I was in Havasu with HavasuCig this past Saturday and we were surprised to see quite a few boaters out there. We saw the new 36" Gladiator (that won the overall Women's Division) from this past years Catalina ski Race. Uncle toys was out there as well, but we missed him. It was approx. 70 degrees out also. Wish we had the Top Gun out there that day.

Sure we do..........we have Palm trees and more Palm trees!!!!

:p
Last time I checked, there was more miles of coast line at Lake of the Ozarks than the entire west coast of California- I'm curious as to how many Havasus you could fit in there!;) :D
Don't knock it till you try it!;)

blown formula 12-30-2002 11:04 AM

There are more miles of coast line in Oklahoma than the length of the Western & Southern coastlines of the USA - COMBINED!!
Also, Oklahoma has the largest lake in the USA contained within a single states borders! (take that Michiganders!!:D )
Shoot, my lake alone has 650 miles of natural sand beach! And no salt to eat everything up. :D We however cannot compete on the "bare skin scales" used on Havasu & LOTO!:(

Yeah, but it has BRIDGES OVER IT!!!! The only bridge over Lake Michigan/Lake Huron is a SUSPENSION bridge 5 miles long. That reseviour in OK isn't even 5 miles wide!!! Put a damn on a creek in the desert and you get sand beaches. Viola!!!! Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Superior, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario, NO DAMNS. Lot's of beaches. And plenty of skin!! I give you Put In Bay Ohio, and Hanky Panky Bay in Grand Haven, MI.

Oh, and no salt. Except on the Marguiritas. :D

Blown Formula,
After doing the Golden Eagle Poker Run down at Eufalla, (sp?), I'd say you guys have a pretty good start. I'm not sure what y'all call that cove/sandbar, but it was pretty cool.
Or, we could go out west to congratulate the new "Miss Havasu"

GAWD!!! I'm blinded!!

Not to get anything started here, BUT: rolleyes: No Dams????? Don't they have LOCKS? Isn't that in itself a "dam"???? If you have to change water levels to go from one place to another there MUST be a dam & pumps of some sort...... oh, I forgot about the "zebra mussell" problem also....we don't have that either. As far as the "skin" goes, I just meant we don''t have the overcrowding of Havasu (or the "gunslingers on the beaches") or of LOTO. I don't think we are a "desert" ... these are not the dustbowl days. We are know as "Green Country" in the eastern half of the state. :D I'm not sure, but maybe Minnesota has more waterfront than we do, but most of it is smaller lakes (Babe- the Blue Ox's footprints per the legend) not enough room to run a big boat out! Uh- Oh, now I got Minnesota in this with the Michiganders! :D All in fun guys! :D

MR. GOODWRENCH,
This is quite possibly the most pathetic attempt at humor I have ever witnessed on this board. Granted there have been some really bad jokes along the way, fights, distasteful comments, etc...etc... , but seriously... I stared at this picture for about five minutes and didn't even as so much hiccup a laugh. I think your joke posting capabilities should be revoked for two weeks and you should be put on probation for a month... Better luck next time!!!!!!!!!! :D :p :D

REGARDS:)

Locks? You could open all the locks on the great lakes and not affect the water level measurably. At the Soo, where the largest locks in North America are, most of the river runs around the locks. The locks are there only for commercial travel. In Chicago they actually use the locks to REVERSE the flow of the river!! It naturally flows INTO Lake Michigan, but the Corps of Engineers and some people a lot smarter than us actualy made it flow backwards. And at Niagra more of the river flows around the locks than thru it, just like the Soo. I'm not saying your reseviour isn't a nice place to go boating. I'm sure it is. :) I'm just saying it's not anything like boating the Great Lakes. Nothing like it. Whole different animal. Just like LOTO and Havasu are nothing like the Great Lakes. Or the oceans either for that matter. I love boating at LOTO, and I'm sure if I ever made a trip to OK, I'd love boating there too. :D I just love to go boating. :)

I totally agree.....on both accounts. :D

cuda 12-31-2002 06:16 AM

All this bickering about two little ole ponds! How can you be "offshore" when the entire puddle is surrounded by land?? :)

When you get the training wheels off, head for the salt and get the real deal.:D

Airpacker 12-31-2002 06:53 AM

Cuda, have you ever boated the great lakes?A nasty little storm here will put 200 foot frieghters on the bottom. If you can sit in your boat and not see land for 360 degrees on the horizon,I'd call it "offshore".That being said, the water can be a little cold but it sure tastes better than salt water when it hits you in the face:)

cuda 12-31-2002 07:42 AM

I will grudgingly give the Great Lakes the thumbs up on offshore, it's the other two ponds I was refering to.:)

blown formula 12-31-2002 08:20 AM

 At least we don't EVER have to worry about sharks! The only thing we have that is big enough to try to eat you are catfish & snapping p____y! :D

Waterfoul 12-31-2002 09:08 AM

No sharks here either!!! And I've been out in 10+ footers in my 24' Baja. Big swells. What a blast. Just drive up and down em like hills on the road. I've also been in a washing machine a few times. Leaving the Shootout!!!! What a mess!! Now that's ROUGH. Break your boat kind of rough.

blown formula 12-31-2002 09:59 AM

Gordo- just saw your post..... I really think we could beat " miss Havasu" hands down here!! Yes, our cove/sand bar is pretty cool but no where near the size of party cove! We could however get that many boats around the island- cove area no sweat, and we would not have to have a Lake Patrol managing traffic either! & to think, the cove/island is right in front of my lake house! Every boat going there passes my house. Great sound effects, love those big blocks. I still have to get those pictures posted & will do so soon, I promise!!
The Eufaula Lake Association should be sending your entry forms pretty soon for the Poker Run. Just remember- they gave away $13,000.00 to 1st place last summer! See ya' there!:D I hope Mickey makes it again too. ( that includes the gals too!)
