Red face Can this really be true?

This was on a list of top 8 morons for 2002!

Last summer down on Lake Isabella, located in the high desert, an hour east of Bakersfield, California, some folks, new to boating were having a problem. No matter how hard they tried, they couldn't get their brand new 22 ft. boat going. It was very sluggish in almost every manuver, no matter how much power was applied. After about an hour of trying to make it go, they putted to a nearby marina, thinking someone could tell them what was wrong. A through topside check revealed everything in perfect working condition. The engine ran fine, the out drive went up and down, and the propeller was the correct size and pitch. So, one of the marina guys jumped in the water to check underneath. He came up choking on water, he was laughing so hard.

NOW REMEMBER ....THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE TRUE...?

Under the boat, still strapped securely in place, was the trailer?

Unless of course they are talking about us when the boat and trailer came off the ball and the boat went water with the trailer still under it but other then starting the engines and driving it back up the ramp and hitching it back up to the truck we did not try and see how it would handle that way

I dont know, but someone somewhere had to have done this
I mean Ive seen people do the following

pull the boat out with the drive all the way down

put it in with it in with the drive way down

back it in with it unhooked " singleman launch"
and watch it as it floated away " way away"

forget to put the plug In! I have 2 its a stepped hull
I could sink fast missing two so I check everytime!

unhook there boat on a roller style trailer
then they backup quickly "with the drive all the way down &
forgetting drain plug" this makes the ramp unusable for a while

oh they go out with little or no fuel, these guys I love
cause they have no radio or cell phone, you see em
floating out there waving there hands I drove up to someone
that did this, I couldnt help but laugh, I called the park police to get someone out there.

I know its easy to forget something , but I try not too
you know there might be a OSO er watching

There was someone on this site last winter that worked at a Marina and actually saw something like this happen. I vote true...

The first time I heard this, it was told to me by my uncle some 20+ years ago. But it started different. The first line was..

"Did you hear about the blond who bought her first boat"?

But I wouldn't dought someone really did this.
