Pics from the Chicago Boat show.
Here is Sunsations new 32' Dominator's dash layout when you opt for the windshield. Very nice layout IMO. Gotta love those monster gauges :) |

I LIKE

sorry...but i no like... it looks like an afterthought and not very well planned at all... also the panels that the gauges are mounted in interrupt the paint scheme and make it look worse...sorry, just my opinion...
|
I agree with Sean, looks sorta weird....like he said almost an afterthought. Whats the difference in layout if you opt for not getting the windshield? Cant see it being any different...
|
I kinda like it but I'd have to sit behind the wheel first to be sure it's useful. Going to be hard to put a GPS or smartcraft monitor anywhere though. Maybe in the middle.

Wally,
The old(er) style helm layout used the fairing for gauge mounting surfaces. A much nicer look IMHO. As much of a die hard Sunsation fan that I am, can't say I'm all too crazy about the windshield model. I guess that's why they offer two different models. -Bayley |

...another shot of the guages.
|
I like the tach and speedo setup better than the orig, but the rest looks kinda goofy. It looks like they are trying to impress with the number of guages. Maybe if the center pod wasn't stacked and just run straight across, it might look better.

Bayley, i like the original better....looks tougher i guess...and i'm sure if they wanted to they could just put the windshield infront of the Fairing and keep the dash the way it is...but who am i to say when i dont know how the boat is put together...
Cigarette1, i agree....i think it would have looked better straight across and if they got rid of those white panels it would keep the paint lines cleaner. Besides....who needs the hour gauges up front? I'd rather just have themn in the engine compartment next to the engines. But thats me :D |
New dash layout
Looks pretty bad to me. I don't like the layout AT ALL. Very scattered. No flow to the lines whatsoever.
The original looks much, much better to me. |
The monster gauges overwhelm it a bit. No need for them unless you have poor vision. But I think in spite of that, it still looks pretty cool for a windshield...
|
Nice windshield but the dash is cluttered as $hit. Looks like the guages were an after thought:(
|
I don't mind the styling at all. However the paint lines should have passed through the remote panel. It also would have helped if it was properly aligned. Could be the camera, it looks like it's tipped slightly.
|
I like the new style except for the extra 6 gauges in the center...I don't think that boat needs that many anyway.
|
Perhaps should be a new thread but did anyone see the new setup on the 32 Innovator? And you think the new Dominator gauge package is weird! The Innovator has a flip up dash and the foot rests for the front bolsters slide/flip behind and that is how you access the cuddy below!! Kind of a neat idea but very different! And by the way....the 32 Innovator is not at the Chicago show....not quite ready apparently?! :D
|
I think the gauge panels would look better with a carbon fiber in an accent color from the scheme.
|
Kind of makes me itch to look at it...
BUT If they wrapped the plastic gauge panels in vinyl with inserts to match the paint scheme, I'd not be as itchy.. |
I like the gauges that they used but the lay out would seem a little off. I agree with everyone on the paint but why would you want the hour meters right there for all to see. Plus the depth gauge should be some where close to the wheel for easy viewing. I would also tend to think that the compass looks kinda funny there too because it seems to break up the lines. I also would have to sit in the boat and see how it would work. The tachs and gauges right above the wheel look good but a step design might have worked better.
