Family play boats: what kind?

Find a used JC TriToon!!! We have a 2000 30 Foot with a 350 Magnum I/O. This thing hauls ASS!! We can beat most speed boats on our lake with it. It has a 10' Sundeck on the back portion and if we take that off we gain 5 - 6 mph . They actually turn like a regular boat (they lean in, not out). We have pulled 3 skiers and you couldn't even tell they were there!!! They are hard to find used since nobody wants to sell theirs

I would go for a 3 logged pontoon
with a medium sized "eggbeater",
they get around pretty good in rough
water, you don't have to worry about
"dock bites", and if you go outboard,
no winterizing worries.

Summer O',
The Tri-toons are bad azz... we had one of those as our first pontoon and then we went on to the fiberglass Q-3 Carvel...
Personally, I would go with an aluminum pontoon such as the Tri-toon for the cost. Very fun boat for the money and it is something you will not be afraid to let someone else drive. The Bayliner's are horrible...> VERY WET RIDE... you constantly get spray from the underside and the Rinker's tend to be a rougher ride due to the more flat bottom. I would also suggest getting one with an outboard as opposed to an I/O, very little maintenance and you can run them all year long if you want to. These are just my opinions though...

Wally- that sounds fun! I really don't want to do ANY maintenance though. If the motor blows up, bolt on a new one kind of thing.
I'm thinking of putting a hard top with a sundeck up top and a slide for the kiddo's!!
Maybe some black paint with flames would be cool too!
Try to imagine the movie Animal House, only with a pontoon boat instead of a lincoln! he he Big FUN!!!
