Thanks for the input. Any advice from the bodyshop folks on how to avoid "aftermarket" parts if OEM is what you want? I know that with USAA I have been able to request and get OEM if I ask for it. Does Progressive not allow that (I'll be asking them too)?

later , i agree with what you said, i just was too lazy to type it all out,

viper , read the policy and look for phrases such as "like kind and quality", this means aftermarket parts. try state farm , since they were sued they only use OEM.

I have Progressive for my car and boat. After I was rearended last year, Progressive was very accomodating. They sent someone to my location within 20 mins of my original contact. At least 3 people called the same day and all seemed genuinely concerned about my well being. I never could get anyone from the other company to return any of my calls. Progressive just took care of everything and said they would fight it out with the other company.

Not to sure about there claims payment. I used one of there authorized shops so I was not involved with the payment.

authorized shops mean shops willing to work at a cutrate price. where do you think they make up their lost profits? answer: they cut corners on your vehicle.

Well I went with them. Got a total of 3 cars (New M3, 330Ci, and X5) with identical coverages for all as compared to my USAA policy and got it for LESS than I was paying for 2 cars with USAA!

I hope that I do not need to find our about the claims service but I could not resist paying $650 less every 6 months for cars that I rarely drive.

Thanks for all your input!
