Question Fractional Boat Ownership

I am exploring the thought of a fractional boat ownership program. I am interested to view some opinions to see if there is any interest in such a program. I view it being very similar to biz jet programs that are working so well today.
I see it as a way for the average person with no boating experience to own a large yacht or other type of boat without all the headaches and expenses that come with it.
Here is my question, specifically. Would you be interested? And what type(s) of boat would interest you or someone you know.

Keep in mind all expenses would be paid (crew, permits, maintenance, travel arrangements, etc) and a minimum of 10% buy in.
Don't forget the tax benefits of depreciation, etc. in ownership vs. charter.

Thanks for participating!!!

The first time someone spills a cup of coffee on the carpet...The honeymoon is over! Good luck.

I understand. It is the same way with aircraft.
Would you want coffee spilled on your 50 million Gulfstream?
That's one of the reasons there is a maintenance fee.

What kind of fraction percentages are you talking about......1/16th? The 80-120 would be best. After 100' I've noticed quite a difference in the layouts.....for example, the kitchen is not part of the "main" area, but is separate where meals are prepared and brought out to you. I like hanging in the kitchen area...that's the heart of any party!

Instead of fractional ownership, have you looked into yacht charter instead

I suppose it could be 1/16 or percentages, whichever worked the best.
I agree with the larger boats being more attractive to this kind of program.
This is a curiosity thing for me. It works so well with aircraft becasue people don't want to hassle with all the details.
I think if you could call 1 phone number to arrange your trip, it's crew, destination, provisions, etc. it would be a hassle free way to enjoy big yacht ownership at a "fraction" of the cost.

Charter is OK, but no benefits of ownership. Why not let the govt. pay for it? (in reduced taxes, depreciation, etc)
