When Crouse promoted the 1985 race, the winner take all prize was $500,000. 5 guys entered, the entry fee was $100,000,so it was basically a $100,000 bet. This is obviously for heavy duty players, but it might work. 10 entries @$100,000,there's your purse. There are a lot of guys out there with million dollar boats. I think is might work, but the logistics would be a nightmare. There is a good read about that race in "Searace",starting on page432.

The Big Boys with all the money wouldn't necessarily dominate because in order to finish first you must first finish.......

Who knows , it could be like the tortoise and the hare . Some little schmuck with a 27'er and twin 330's could take the purse.
Say what you will , but those 330's run for ever and the bigger the power the bigger the problems. A thousand miles of hard running on the water will certainly take its toll

I doubt anything besides Diesel power would give you a shot at it.
hell a 33' RIB with Yanmars would be my choice.

I'd think about a 26 Glacier Bay cat with twin 225 Hondas, you could run 55 in any conditions and you wouldn't need to stop for gas(lol)
