28' Skater w/Triple O/B
 

Has anyone ever seen one of these? Do they exist? Anybody have any pics if they do?

Yup! There is a guy up here on Lake George that has one. You are really better off with twins though. The third motor doesn't really add much to the boat but a lot of stern weight.

I kind of figured that hydrodynamicaly (sp?) it is an issue of drag vs. power. I thought it would be interesting to see.

skater had one for sale for a lng time it was one of tha anheiser bush guys boat dont know if it is still on the skater used boats site chris at skater would probly know about it talk to ya later

i have been told the third motor dosent really do much for top end but gives it crazy acceleration. packinair has researched extensively but we cant seem to find enough room on the back of his 23 :rolleyes: :D :cool:

A friend of mine is a mechanic who works on one that is on Lake Hopatcong. It is owned by two guys who are like contractors or something and they are apparently new to this kind of boat.

My mechanic friend tells me he has done 140 with it on Lake Hopatcong which I found hard to believe given the size of the lake. The motors are equipped with NOS., and he says the acceleration in just ridiculous. He swears it sees those numbers in that short distance.

My neighbor has a 24' Skater w/ trips 2.5's I beleive, runs in the 130 mph range. I don't ride in it but sure is wild to watch..

I had a 26 cat with twin 2.5's.....there was another cat (same hull) at the time with triple 2.5's and it did not even run 10 mph faster than mine with twins.

If you want flat out speed go with drag motors. DCB rigged a 22 cat with twin drag motors that ran 133 mph, and the acceleration was brutal!!

I have driven one. It ran 115. I got there in a real big hurry. lots of extra rigging to set it up right for the fuel system etc.

i have met the guy on lake hopatcong with the triple's on the 28 skater...he is a weird guy, state police told me that they are trying to get him kicked off the lake cause he goes 100+mph flying past boats at close range...the guy said that he has nitrous hooked up to it, and the engine's are not plain 2.5's, they run off of aviation fuel...he also said that it goes about 128mph...the boat looks ass heavy at speed and looks like it wants to blow over, i wouldnt suggest the triple combo, 2 is enough

I ran along next to him at 101 mph and he couldn't get away from me, someone told me later that he was having trouble with it and that it did run a WHOLE lot better than that.
