I bought my boat in Ontario and brought it to Michigan. As was mentioned before - no title, just a registration. I had to stop at customs on the way back to Michigan, but no fees or duties were collected - they just checked the registration had been signed over. The Michigan Secretary of State created a title for me, issued a michigan registration and new registration numbers - that was it. It was a no brainer in Michigan. I would definitely check with your Secretary of State to see what they require.
