Imco, Bmax or XRs? Spectre 36' boat
I have a pair of 750's in my 30' Spectre, I'm thinking of selling the boat less power and sticking the 750's in a new 36'. I know the XRs are maxed out on horsepower but parts are readily available and reasonable. I've heard possible problems with Imco and Bmax warranties. Please feel free to comment.

I like the XRs with the ITS and the sportmaster lowers. Just like you said parts will always be available and no shortage of people that can work on them.Just my two cents.

I know that it's alot more money but the number VI drives are well worth it. The boat will handle like it's on rails and they have been tottaly bullet proof for me with over 1300 hp for 3 years. And you will get the money back with the resale of the boat. Come to Skaterfest and take a ride on mine and you'll see.

Byron,
I remember another 36spectre owner from FL that ate a couple XR's with only 500efi's this year.
Imco, well, I've heard bad but dont know first hand.
Bmax will seem to hold up great, but if you are already spending 10-11K just get a surface drive for about 14K and you will be bullet proof forever and faster! They are alot cheaper and dont weigh as much as a #6.
Just a thought.

I asked Jay about #6s on a 36 and he said " the boat just didn't like them". He seemed to think they were too heavy for the balance and CG.
Otto, you do run them, but I remember a thread where you wanted to add about 300 pounds to the nose or add a ballast tank. Did that help your ride? I missed you at Skaterfest last year, I wanted to meet you and see your boat. Hopefully we can meet this year.
I wonder if Jay would offer the 36 with a ballast tank?
I would like to see the Spectres come with larger fuel tanks. Even with 500s, I can't run my 30 for two days in a row without fueling. Does Jay offer a custom tank?
Byron, how fast was/is your 30 with 750hp?

Byron-In regards to your question about a warranty. We try to keep our drives both affordable and user friendly by not tacking on thousands of dollars to cover the cost of a warranty, and designing a drive that uses readily available parts, that can be serviced by any sterndrive repair shop if need be.
