The Calm Before the Storm
I left work Wednesday via an ambulance. Our building was having a false fire alarm and being as the ambulance was already there, I asked to use their services.
After struggling with my second kidney stone in 5 years, I wasn't about to try and drive myself. I spent the rest of the day in the ER. It was much different from the first time. They did the blood work, urine samples and two EKG's. They were a bit concerned that my heart rate was in the 40's. (Must be all the excercise from the Lil' boat). ;) They 1st said they were going to do all these tests, but then at the end of the day they surprisingly gave me pain killers and sent me on my way...  No tests at all? Now I am waiting around quietly for the worst part to come.:( :( :( It will probably come out during the SUPER Bowl...   |
OOOOOWWWWWEEEEEEE!!!!!!! :( Good luck with it. Perhaps you can capture it and take a picture and post it? :D  :D I'm sure we'd all like to see the bastard that has you in so much pain...
|
Damn Tim, that sucks....:(
take care Bro.... Marty |
Dam , Thats no fun ! I hope it works out as painless and easy as it can for you ! Good luck , JOE
|
Sharkey,
I have never had one but have heard horror stories! I hope it comes out quickly and as painlessly as possible. Shane |
I've been told that a hot bath and cold beer are the best combination to ease the pain. Best of luck...:(
|
Ouch! My wife gets kidney stones about once every few years, and it does not look like fun. Good luck Tim - drink lots of water! (But I'm sure you know that already!)
|
KIDNEY STONES SUCK!!!!
That crap hurts..I've had them and know your pain. Lay off the soda pop and drink a lot of H20. take it easy you'll be up and running in nothing.. Damn I love Demorol (sp?)hehehe |
I agree about drinking water. When I had one I spent all day in the hospital and they would not let me drink. About 3:00pm my mother brought me a bottle of water. I sucked the whole thing down in 10 sec. 15 min. later, out she came, no fuss and no pain.

I can appreciate what you are gonig through. I had to have one surgiclly removed three months ago due to it's size. No fun at all.
Still have a small one, but they can blast it easily. Best of luck, and please not during the super bowl! |
I've had them twice. I had them blasted, it is a miracle cure. Home by noon. After the first set, they said I had a 50% chance of developing more in 5 years. Well, extrapolate that out to ten years, and it hit 100%, sure enough ten years later, I had them again. Blasted the second time. I know it is from drinking too much soda, but I am addicted to it.
The best thing I found for the pain, (other than pills) is to lay in a tub with the water as hot as you can stand it. Good luck bro. |
Thanks for the support guys!;)
Cuda, I am 2 weeks shy from being exactly five years from my first one. 1st time was real scary cause I had no clue what was happening to me. I felt I was going to pass out, so I laid myself out on the floor and asked someone to get an ambulance. By the time they showed I was already standing and feeling fine. They admitted me and kept me overnight pumping water into me throughout the night. We never found it. They suspected I passed it before I arrived at the hospital. This time around was so different. No overnight stay. They gave me a perscription and sent me on my way. I just made an appointment with a Dr, and they asked if they had taken x-rays and tests. I was like, Oh great... did they forget something? I know I am not looking forward to them shooting that dye into me. That may have been worse than the stone. They come in the room with this thing the size if of a caulking gun...   I thought maybe they had a leak somewhere...Boy was I wrong...........:( :(  |

The doctor from the 1st one said these things can be big and sharp. Then he showed a better view of just how narrow a path it has to travel...

I had one 25 years ago. Before they called the ambulance for hours I thought I was coming down with the flu...throw up, diahrea(sp?) fever, chills aching bones burning to pee. Did the hospital, dye tests x-rays and all...stayed two nights.had i.v. because I was dehydrated..felt better 2nd day..passed it 3rd day. Was the size of a piece of black pepper out of shaker! Under microscope it had multiple jagged edges like an arrow head and was porouse(sp?) like a piece of lava..knock on wood have never had another...heard it was closest man would come to experiencing childbirth!!!OUCH take care...this (that)too will pass!!!

My sales rep is a pilot. He had a stone and came up for his annual flight doctor checkout. They grounded him until the stone passed or got blasted. Said some guys have driven planes into the ground from the pain before.
Never had one. Don't want one. Sounds extremely painful. |
Tim, what can I say?
Be Well. |
A buddy at work nearly died from one. When they tried to blast it they severed an artery by accident and he needed like 3 units of blood to get him stabilized. Needless to say he wasn't too pleased to go back to that hospital the next time.

Sharkey,
Sorry to hear about the pain. Never had one and hope never to. Not to change the subject, but I was looking on your site nad became enamored with a 32' boat, 7' beam, ventilated from the front. There were construction photos but there has been no update for a while now. Any info? I'manxious to hear how the boat rides. Randy |
sharkeymarine, I'm a radiology tech. Never had a stone but see plenty of "victims" in the E.R. at night. I did alot of IVP's (the test that film was from) when I worked days. Do those 50cc syringes really look like caulking guns? That explains the look on the first timers face when I walk into the room with the drawn up contrast!
|
Hope you feel better Tim. Too bad the water's frozen, I figure 10 minutes in the little boat and that sucker would break up and fall out:D
I heard cranberry juice was good when I had one too. Good Luck |
Tim. Keep the stones on the ground were they belong. Gees I am going to to tell your wife to start making you lunches!! Only kidding get better.
|
Ouch!!!! good luck hope it all works out for you tripps
|
Thanks guys!
Randy, The guy ran into some trouble with the risers for the Hemi. Last I saw, he ended up making his own. It became a winter project for now... Soon as I get some more info on it, I will post it. It's an interesting ride to say the least.....;) Well......Gotta go pee again.........   |
