Hey Tim,

The meetings are the third Tuesday of every Month at Bahia Cabana restaurant near the Ft.Lauderdale boat show site.We are looking for new and old members to join O.P.B.R.A. race club and support us in putting together a few great races every year in the South Florida area.

To join you can email me at [email protected] and I will send you an application form for you to fill out and return with a check payable to OPBRA .

The 1 year price is .... $ 45.00
The 2 year price is .....$ 85.00
The 3 year price is .....$ 125.00

Sun Cruz casino is exactly the size boat we would need for spectators to enjoy the race offshore.

Thanks,

JO

Hey Nasty Habit,

The idea of live feed at the show would be great. Thanks for your input.

JO:)

Jo,
I love the idea of a true “offshore” race. As far spectators go, even at a good venue you can only see a fraction of the race from the shore.
To expand upon Indy and Nasty Habit's idea of closed circuit video coverage, what if whoever (maybe Jeff from Freeze Frame) provided the video link and pre-sold DVD’s to us “Mid-Coasters” and other folks who couldn’t attend? That way they would be sure their cost of production was covered.

I think its great idea ..... I love to race there ..

Ron P 01-24-2003 06:38 PM

Great idea Jo. The location is great and the timing with the boat show is a natural.

Ok we all agree you should do it! Would it be a national or divisional event?

JO - PANTERABOATS 01-24-2003 06:53 PM

Hi Ron P,

It would be a divisional with OPBRA. Maybe someday it would become a National, I think the potential is there for it.

Mike Merola,

I would like to have all the Jersey guys racing if we can put it all together.I will try and do atleast one race with you guys up in Jersey this year in F2.My favorite race site still is Pt. Pleasant Beach.

Hey Fred,

I would need to look at cost into doing this but I have seen it work at the Grand Prix of Miami a few months ago.

I really think it has the potential to be a huge event.I have had the idea for sometime.I think once you get done racing in Key West in November you have plenty of time to relax from racing that by February you are ready to get back in it.It would also be a great warm up race for the Nationals in April. This is one of the reasons the Orlando lake race has been popular with racers for many years now before Daytona. It kind of lets you know where you are at on performance.

I like the idea of Rough water in February.:D

It is blowing 20-25 MPH out of the North now.

Regards,

JO:p

Jo,

Great idea. As nice as it is for spectators to see the race from shore, I think that the media coverage from the show is more important all in all, as well as copter coverage. You kill two birds with one stone by running it a few blocks along the beach and heading straight out to the gulfstream. I think the next dimension for a great race might be to create a special class where anything goes or the only constraint is length or power perhaps. Or maybe a total simplification of anything goes might be easier. I believe that whoever does watch the race shouldn't have to wonder who is in the lead. This is what confuses people who are new to the sport, all the different classes going around in circles. I like the idea of just one lap or 2. This way there will be less confusion and easier coverage.

Joe, Great Idea! It's about time that offshore racing is that. Should be a real offshore race, not a typical Saturday night local stock car race that is geared at more entry fee's and a course set up for free veiwing with the racer flipping the bill. This will bring back the true offshore top guns.

Yahoooo

Jo, Now you did it! The phones were just starting to settle down, and here we go again. The Jersey Boyz and the NE gang are totally bored this time of year. Sounds like a winner to me. Wazzup is just sitting full of antifreeze. I'll be there! Any help you need let us know. We are there for you. Ed
