What Is This Skater Really Worth?
|
cool
that is a nice boat i would say at least 150k
|
Thats easy to figure out. You take two prices
Price 1: The lowest price owner will take. Price 2: The highest price you will pay to own it. When these two numbers match You know exactly what that boat is worth!! |
From what ive seen, compared to the 2 skaters that we have(36 and 40) i would say that it is well worth what they are asking. FYI, Peter also has a 36 skater trailer in good shape for 7900.00
|
It's definatley worth that price with #6 drives that would be a very reliable package.

"2000 Skater Pleasure, 36' ,Open Cockpit with air conditioned cabin, Merc 800+ Class 1 dry sump motors, 18 hrs, detuned, for pump gas, Merc #6 drives, Huber transmissions Stelling headers, 130 MPH at Lake X"
Beautiful boat and I am sure it is well worth the price. My question is about the motors, are these the same set up as Super Cat? If so, how long will they last under pleasure conditions? |
Super cats in APBA do not have superchargers. Those are roughly 700-750 hp. In any race a few boats will break down. Reliable? I have this philosphy on cutting edge performance boats, they will break....Pleasure use can see as high as 250 hours on a well setup motor. Hope for the best and expect the worst. Regarding that Skater, the drives alone are $35k new each. Motors $40-50k new each. Engines, drives, steering, hull, rigging, transmissions, etc your at $400-500k in total new. That price is very good for that cat.

Thanks for your reply. I still do not see a supercharger on this engine. http://images.traderonline.com/img/6...31469530_4.jpg |
Check This
Look at this 36' Skater, allot less hardware for more money.
Maybe this will help answer your question. http://www.offshoreonly.com/forums/s...threadid=41693 Cougarman |
Sorry, I did not look at that all the pictures. I assumed anything with 800hp is blown. Or did I read the ad wrong? I thought it said 800. I do not think Merc made anything over 500hp naturally aspirated. In that case the engines are a lot less money.
|
The first cat..........is worth every cent. The #6 drives show that.
The second cat I have looked at, but it does not say what year it is. Just like anything for sale..............age and cleanliness has alot to do with the price Having own a cat.....the firt one would be my choice.....the second cat..I would pass on, unless the price drops a hellva lot |
What is a Merc 800+ Class 1 dry sump motors? You cant see any dry sump reservoir or oil lines in the pic's to me thay look like HP500's???
|
class 1 motors I believe came out in the 90's were 800's 900's 1000's for M ,CLASS SUPERBOAT CLASS ,1000'S HAD BLOWERS ONLY.
|
They were open class motors , which had the fuel injection taken off. I have made some decals for this boat and saw it when it was new. The guy is a friend of Pepe Llama of Spirit of Puerto Rico. The boat was in Puerto Rico. This is probably the best deal on a 36 Skater around.
