SE florida Boating

I'm fairly new to S. Florida. I'm looking for some fellow performance oriented boaters to run with.
We're in a great area, but I'm having a hard time finding some compadres that don't get scared when we leave the No Wake zone.
I put in in Delray Beach and run from Palm Beach down into Miami, and the Keys.
Anyone, Anyone?

Horseplay 01-27-2003 01:44 PM

Check out the Florida Powerboat Club. They have runs almost monthly. They are based in Ft Lauderdale at everglades marina. Good way to meet like minded individuals.

Pantera24 01-28-2003 06:52 AM

Hey Tim,

I usually hang out down in South Biscayne Bay at Elliot Key during the summer. Don't worry I think we will be getting a few more Pantera brotheren in the upcoming future in the South Fla. area.

On this board I know we have

"MYPANTERA", "PANTERALOVER" and "GARYMMM" that reside in So.Fla.

Also, I sent Jo my application today for "OPBRA". You should consider joining they have some good ideas and are looking for new members.

audacity 01-28-2003 07:14 AM

we are A LWAYS down there!...going back this weekend to key largo...i have to go for a sea test....so we'll be out and about...my guess is burn some fuel and hang out at the sand bar.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 08:31 AM

Actually im working with a head hunter right now and trying to square away a new job in Boca myself
This company pays relocation and all but can someone tell me where is a good place to live down there in this area?
A house with its own dock leading out to water?
Can anyone help me on this ?
Thanks
Jason

CigDaze 01-28-2003 08:38 AM

Jay,
Saltwater access in S. Fl?......Get ready to shell out some major cash. :)

Glad to see that you're really persuing that move to FL. I hope all goes well for ya.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 08:43 AM

your the one that said there is no shortage of waterfront access down here
Friend said they do 50 yr mortgages in Fla is this true?
if so I can get more house wiht the low rates these days would not be too bad,
nothing that leads out to intercoastal or something?
Or should I just bend over and leave my baby at a marina?
What do you guys do down there in this area?
Jason

CigDaze 01-28-2003 08:51 AM

Don't get me wrong, there is no shortage of available waterfront, just big bucks! :)
I don't know anything about the 50 yr deal? I haven't heard that. It's almost excessive, I think.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 08:52 AM

what is a good area to look in around these parts?
maybe LAKE front or something?
would like a nice house ya know?
anyone?
or a good website to check out?
Jason

florida gator 01-28-2003 09:10 AM

There are alot of rivers and creeks on the west coast with gulf access. Some are even fresh water so you flush yourself out coming in.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 09:14 AM

Job is in boca not west coast
Jason

AC 01-28-2003 09:16 AM

Hey Jason,

I have a water front lot in Cape Coral that leads out to the Gulf.
It's for sale.

AC
:D

Jayl13 01-28-2003 09:21 AM

Okay
geography lesson
Boca is on atlantic ocean not gulf of mexico
Boca is between Ft Lauderdale and Miami
sort of delray beach, boca, west palm beach area

While I would love to find a place on west coast , Tampa, St Pete, clearwater ect that is NOT where this job is
And I refuse to drive 4 hrs each way to work hows that?
Jason

florida gator 01-28-2003 11:05 AM

My apologies. I didn't pay attention to the Boca part. I thought you were just looking at coming to sunny Florida.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 11:11 AM

I am definately, Im getting sick of this cold mess up here and the nuts real estate up here
everything is just getting out of control up here
houses that are worth about 79.50 are going for 445 thou
2 br on .33 acres with a run down garage, origional siding and windows from 1944, half burnt chimney, no new paint in 40 years with a roof half caved in for almost 400 thou
Just way out of control and I refuse to pay it and do it
all new construction is like 975 thou + with 17000 in taxes per year.
Hello most of us dont make 400 thou a year to pay that BS either
so its like we are forceably being run out of our neighborhoods cause of the all mighty dollar
Hell for 1 million bucks with a foot of snow on the front yard of a .75 acres house and 1500 a month in RE taxes alone let alone 10 grand a month for mortgage and your neighbors are all bum's and jerk off's that bought 250 dollars worth of Amazon and Yahoo stock for 30 cents a share and sold them for 190 bucks a share
okay im venting forget it
Im saying this
For what houses cost
I would rather be nice, warm, have a few PALM trees on my property and not have to worry about Diesel fuel gelling up and burning up my fuel pump and have my truck at the dealer for almost a week
Hows that?

Jason

CigDaze 01-28-2003 11:22 AM

Jay,

That's one thing that you will be able to escape easily down here.
Without getting personal about your finances, if you've made it this far up in the "great" white north, you'll do just fine.

It is getting out of control and it had been for years. Glad I moved when I did. ;)

Jayl13 01-28-2003 11:26 AM

Well I do see boca and other houses on intercoastal and all the lauderdale homes and stuff over 1 million gets you an okay house
over 2 million gets you a nice house
over 3 million gets you a REALLY nice house
over 4 million gets you a KILLER nice house
over 5 million why the hell did you not buy it sooner jackass cause you had the money years ago

im a normal dude making an okay wage
im not rich by any standards and dont care to be.
but I swear all these new yorkers are coming down from Manhattan and buying up all these houses everywhere around here and what you could afford in PA now you cant
just sucks hairy moose balls if you ask me
but for buku bucks, I would rather be in Florida than up here
so daze, how many hrs have you put on the baja in the last 2 months?
Jason

HebertNecessity 01-28-2003 11:37 AM

Hey Jay I would like to help, I'm a Realtor in Ft Lauderdale and handle Boca Del Ray, It's expensive but $$$ are cheap, property is a great investment now, call me @ 954-805-9828

Hugh

Tim, I will be joining the ranks of Pantera soon, we boat all the time. My current boat has 1400hours time to upgrade.

CigDaze 01-28-2003 11:37 AM

December and January = Approx. 16 hours!
3 times out in Dec. 2 times out in Jan! :D

You're right about the outrageous prices!

The rule in FL is how many miles from the coast.
The closer, the more expensive and outrageous.

After two or three miles, a 'normal dude' like you and I should have no problem finding a nice place in a nice neighborhood.

If you want land, though, generally speaking you have to move further inland.

HebertNecessity 01-28-2003 11:53 AM

Baja Daze is right, Our boat is on Ocean access but 1 hour at NoWake to the intercoastal then 20 min to the ocean There are homes from the low $200s up to 20mill I'm going to put the Pantera in High and Dry just a phone call away.
The Mortgages have gotten very creative, I just sold a house where the client borrowed $300k and her payments were $962 a month interest only this did not include taxes/ insurance. Call me I can email property listings

Hugh

Wild Horses 01-28-2003 12:18 PM

We are considering FL, north of West Palm. What would 10-20 acres run you? Generally looking at raising horses. However, do not want to be more than 30-50 minutes from the ocean.

Trevor

Jayl13 01-28-2003 12:23 PM

Oh man that is going to hurt!
Jason

Horseplay 01-28-2003 01:18 PM

Jayl13
Refresher geography lesson. Boca is north of Fort Lauderdale, between FL and Palm Beach.

Jayl13 01-28-2003 01:30 PM

oops sorry, missed that class
but got to the class where they said boca is on east cost
Jason

Viper One 01-28-2003 01:55 PM

Check in the Pompano Beach area. Its about 15 minutes south of Boca and just north of Fort Lauderdale. There are still some decent values on the water there and it has'nt gotten as pricey as Lighthouse Point yet. One of my buddies just bought a house on the water for $300k. He's about a 10 minute ride to the Intercoastal and then about another 15 minute ride to the ocean. Only about 15 minutes to Houstons and the Sands which is great for those late afternoon/ evening dinner runs.

HebertNecessity 01-28-2003 06:15 PM

Yea Pompano has gotten pretty pricey too, not as bad as Lighthouse Point but high, Horse land North of West Palm is still reasonable

R Addiction 01-30-2003 12:48 PM

Hey AC I see that you're online. How much for the Cape Coral lot? E-mail me or call me.;)
