Quaility Cats

I have never riden in a cat. I have been looking into buying one. Just looking for opinions on 25 to 26 foot cats. I have been mostly looking at Eliminators. I have heard that they do not handle the ruff stuff well and that they are not as fast as other cats with comparable power. How would you compare an Eliminator to a Carerra? Any input would be appreciated.

My persoal pref. is a 26 Daytona or a HTM SR24, the HTm's start at 54,900, and will go well over 100 mph for 79,900, something about those HTM's Stand up bolsters and big cabin, and a fast hull

The 25 Eliminator seems to be quite a bit faster than the 26 Eliminator. Where do you boat and how big is the "ruff stuff"? I have a 28' Daytona and have no interest in taking in on Lake Erie like I did my 23' & 26' deep vees.

I mostly boat at inland lakes & Ohio river. I know it could handle it, I was just wondering about comparison to other cats the same size. Like the 257 Carerra. Do you know anything about this boat?

Can't help with the 257. If you are interested in a used 25 Daytona. I know of a 2000 with less than 50 hrs for sale in Central Ohio. Here is a link to it.

You can get it with about any motor or drive configuration. I think it has a B-Max with less than 2 hrs on it now. This boat does have a windshield.

I would definitely take a look at American Offshore cats. You get a lot of boat for your money. There are quite a few at LOTO, so I guess they take the rough stuff fairly well. BTW, there are a few for sale right now at LOTO. Here is a website you can browse. It doesn't look like there are any on there right now, but keep a look out.

barry1784, your boat looks awesome. I was at Norman last Memorial Day and saw you there.

I would have to say American Offshore. I bought a 2600 last year because i down sized due to buying a new house and I have been extremely happy. Before i bought I rode in a bunch of smaller cats and even after I bought i was still able to compare it to others and I found it was the all around best cat out there. For starters the boat gets on plan extremely easy and at all speeds is very stable and smooth. My boat with a 509 and a 420 blower will reach over 100mph. The cats I compared it to are ones my friends own and that is a 25' eliminator with a 600 hp normally asperated, a 27' Awesome with a 700 hp sc, 28' eliminator with a 900 sc, a 28' eliminator with twin 500's, and a 28 warlock with twin 377 scorpians. The only one that rides better is the 28 eliminator and that is because it is a big and heavy cat but that AO rides almost as good and is a ton faster. But just my .02.
