SKATER 399 Super Vee Light - - Commint Soon to the West Coast
Skater's latest creation........399 Vee Bottom is scheduled for pick-up at 8:00 AM monday morning for delivery to Dick Simon Marine. The boat will go through testing and set up to get ready for the 2003 PROPRA race schedule.
Anybody have any thoughts on Skater getting into the world of Vee-bottoms?

Peter builds a great boat ! But all thoses steps on a vee bottom go great in a straight line, All APBA race tracks are now are 5 miles with about 6 turns. If you can't turn, all that speed will get you is only a speed record, ask the UtZ boys. Looking foward to seeing another SVL 2 on the APBA race series.

Saw it run in Key West and was not over inpressed with it.Maybe with some more work and time it will be a contender. They build a great boat and am sure they will figure it out.Time and hard work always wins.

Dick Simon Marine's new owner Scot Conrad will be throtteling the boat and it looks like Ken Bowen will be driving. Scot and Ken have spent quite a bit of time together in F2 Racing. As soon as the boat arrives it will go through extensive set up and testing. The boat should be a solid contender for 2003

pricey..........
I looked into the new Skater 39 before The Worlds - 300 grand minus engines and drives , not this ole boy. It'll never beat the Fountians on the big boy tour and I'f I was going to take a shot on something not proven - I'd call Will at Phantom and get a new 38. Just my .02 worth - BH

PWRBOATTOURS - Your Right the boat isn't cheap. Time will tell how it does against the Fountains. The boat will probably make it to one of the larger races and that will be the grounds to see how she competes. It will be good to see a new manufacturer competing in this tight class.

Let's not forget that Skater had very little time to dial the boat in before Key West.
You just can't expect a boat to be at it's best right out of the mold.
Although Steve1 seems to know how to do that.....
