f250 f350

i am getting a new work truck and trying to determine what advantage there is 350 or 250, both are psd both crew cabs, xlt, is there a ride quality difference, etc. i am towing 12000 pounds. i currently have a 350 xl psd, that i am passing d6wn to an employee. thanks

Dan,
I have a 97 350 4+4 srw and would never drop down to a 250. We also have a 99 350 4+4 srw and there is no comparison in the load handleing of the two. The 99 sucks. I am thinking about getting a new 6 litre 350 and have be told there is a regular and hd in springs. Just my thoughts.

I also have a 97 F350 Diesel 4x4 crew cab SRW XLT I will not step down to a F250. I,ve had Chevy trucks that can hold diddly squat to what this truck can do. I pull everything from 17' runabouts to 45' Sonics to 34'cruisers with little or no struggle from the truck.
Knock on wood but I'd stick with the heavier duty truck for longevity. Right now we tow a 43 Black Thunder with no problems.

Good luck and happy truck hunting

Troutly's advice is good. Go to the site he is refering to. That said, the only difference in the new F-250 and F-350 is rear springs. The differentials, trans, drivetrain are the SAME. The F-250 will have a little softer ride(due to softer rear springs). If GVWR is a concern, go with the F-350. If ride is what you want, go with the F- 250 and install air bags. The truck will pull every bit as good as an F-350.

YOu guys are right . The trucks are the same engine trans rears etc. Springs are the only diference . If you need it for carrying weight you need the 350 .AND , Thats not all ....... There is still a "674 " suspension upgrade for us heavy haulers !

MY customers trucks without the 674 sag about 3 inches compared to mine with the 674 package sags about 3/4" with the same load /trailer .!! MAkes for good stability and doesn't change the ride . I sell trucks too ........:) SOld 3 f350's this week !

I'd stay with the 350 I went from a 01 F250SD super crew short bed to a 03 F350SD super crew short bed, both are single rear wheel but the 350 rides much better loaded AND unloaded...

GET THE 350 - NO SQUAT

I carry a lot of tongue load by choice and it sits level. I got a 2000 F350 CC SRW PSD and liked it.............just added a 90HP Banks Chip, 4" Complete Exhaust, and trans module. 300+ HP & 600+ FT LBS Torque. Now I Love it. Tows a 10,000 LB Fountain/Steel Trailer like a champ.

Note: The Boat's FOR SALE, The F350's NOT.

Thanks for the info. I love my 350 now and I am going to get another.

Hey boot, looks like another chip conversion...

250 vs. 350

The only thing that matters is safety. If you have never had a blowout on a trailer then you could not possibly understand. I was pulling a trailer with full capacity load and lost one tire and rim. I was on the interstate running about 65 miles per hour and had there been other vehicles around, I could have possibly injured someone or even killed some people. I was terrified. I fought the truck until I could get the truck stopped and was taking up all the lanes. The trailer was causing the back of the truck to sway all over the road. I did not think that I could save it. This was a f250. I will never own another single rear wheel truck and haul a boat or trailer of any kind. The extra two wheels and tires on a f350 or 3500 give the truck stability if you would ever have a blow-out.

Yea.....so where are all the WHITE F-350 crew cab DRWs at?
Seriously, I have been trying for a long time and cannot find one in my area. I have posted a few times about this and still haven't found one. I am about to give up, which means all my summer plans wil be redirected to LOTO, which isn't bad , but I really wanted to travel this summer.
