America's Cup

Is anyone else pissed off that race 4 is postponed...AGAIN?!

Audiofn 02-21-2003 06:32 PM

Yup They really need to get a race off. Does not look good for the KIWI's. Guess they are wishing they kept the old skipper after all. I do not like this new format of racing for money that it has turned out to be. The spirit of the rules are that you live in the country that you race in. Also the boats and everything had to be designed and built in the country of origin. Now you only have to live there for a couple months, and they are all designed and buiilt in the states. Still some damn good racing this year however :D:D

TNZ has been looking really bad, race1 they lost 2 sails and now we're stuck with the wind at 4 knots and looking at race 2 again! You know if the Swiss win it will be the first time ever a land-locked country ever won the cup. Where would the race be in 4 years? The Med, the coast of Spain?

Thanks Packinair but it is world history after all, I like it.

I am just teasing... I didn't want you to read that the wrong way.. LOL I think it is fun to watch and a hell of a sport although I would never admit it here in fear of loosing my fourm punk image:D I gained a whole new respect for sail boaters after my little radio controled nitro boats kept stalling and my friend kept pushing me in with his RC sail boat.. Also I know of a member here who was towed in by a blow boat:D

Is Dr. Jim Andrews from Bham,Al still involved with one of the USA teams?

Becca 02-21-2003 07:06 PM

Magicfloat, I don't know. I'll have to admit that I missed the qualifying matches because I was a mess but caught up at race 1, ironically enough at Shooters but I heard we had 3 entries this year and didn't make it past the 4th elimination.

Becca USA-76 made it all the way to the final round to come up against a seemingly invincible team.

I always enjoy their graphics but can't get excited this year without the good ol Stars and Stripes being represented.

By the way, what's the "poor" Dennis Conner doing these days.

I agree with audio. A country should NOT be able to buy a skipper and or crew. The entire team should be nationals.
