Hoist information

It looks like I will be needing a hoist for the Sutphen for the upcoming season. I have never purchased a hoist before so I have very little knowledge about them or the dealers in the LOTO area. The boat will not stay on the lift durring the winter due to the level that the water drops to at the house we are aquiring. If anyone has a used one they are trying to sell I would be interested in talking with them also. 30' Suthpen, 6500 lbs,,, I was told to get at least an 8000 lbs lift.

You can find many used hoist down at the lake, just look in the boat traders and sun leader newspaper is a good source. most of the hoist dealers will move a hoist for about $500.00 out and in depending on location. but if you buy a used hoist from them they usually have install included in price just make sure. stay away from the big white square tubs that are cheap price wise down there. if your boat weights 6500lbs i would be looking for a 8000lbs or 10,000lb that way if your full of fuel it will still lift it, galva lifts, hydro hoist are nice also stay away from a cable hoist. were is the new house at, im at the 6 1/2mm across from millstone lodge. good luck

Call all the dealers down there and ask them what they have. I agree with Later, I would probably go with the 10,000 lb lift. There is not much price difference and then you can be sure it will lift the boat without probs. Also don't go with the upside down bath tubs! Good luck.
