Well that's definetly one opinion, anyone else. Don't worry about offending me. I have a new boat coming, I hope, and that is what they use at the factory. I'm sure I could send something else for them to install if it is that bad. Any opinions on anything better. I heard some Kickers last yr that sounded good to me, but I don't much about this stuff. I appreciate the help.

That's just my experience with it. I've got Kicker amps, components, and woofers in my DD car, boat, and truck. It's great, but there is better. The ZX amps in my boat get hot and shut down after playing too long, and they're exposed, not covered. A fan helps that out. Another thing about the ZX amps is that they have an un-regulated power supply so they're current hogs.

Another boater on here that I know locally has JL amps and subs in his Sonic. They sound pretty awesome. PPI makes good amps too. I had a pair of those in my old boat and they never skipped a beat...

I need some advice. If audiobahn(spelling) is bad. What do you suggest. I want a nice system but it doesn't have to be the best. I have a couple of amps from my previous system that worked great, will they be ok for the new one, they are both Kenwood, KAC-Q74- I used for 4 coaxal, and a KAC-606 used for the subs.
I need a single din head unit that will play dvd's, I was looking at JVC KD-AVX1 or Alpine DVA-9860. What do you think of these units or brand, I also need advice for 2 sets of cockpit speakers and subs.
HELP. :drink:

I'd go with the Alpine for a head unit.

For speakers, Kicker makes a pretty nice marine component set this year. Those sound pretty awesome.

Do you know the model #for the speakers, what about subs?

For the components, KM625.2

For the woofers, it depends on your boat. If you can build an enclosure, I'd get something like JL Audio 10W3's, or if you can't build an encosure, but have a compartment that's closed off, you could use the free-air Kicker Marine 10" woofers: 06KM10. I've got 4 of the 06KM10's in my 25' Outlaw under the rear bench. It's not completely sealed, but there are no open spots. The woofers could sound better, but they're alright. The grills for the woofers and components match, and you could probably paint them. They are grey from the factory...

It's all just a matter of personal opinion. I worked at a car audio shop that sold Clarion Pro for 4 years. They had a bulletproof line of head units, but they didn't have the sound quality of the Alpine's.
