Stopping SPAM emails

Okay folks, I need some computer guru help. Somehow I ended up on a spam email list. Its the one that keeps sending you emails from different African countries asking for donations for whatever cause, blah blah blah... Each time I get one of these emails, I immediately respond with F**K OFF! and then block the sender's address. Unfortunately, each email comes from a different email address.

I know I'm not the only one getting these things, but how do you stop them from coming in?

First mistake was emailing them back, they now know that
its a real email address. I never give out my real email through
my provider, I think my bank OSO a few business accounts,
Always use a hotmail or yahoo account for purchases or
general Info, I give mine real one to only a select group.
Another way they get your address is forwarded emails
if you ever had a email Jokes fwd to you, you'll see a list
of addresses in the To/cc when I foward stuff I remove all
of the other email address.

I never thought about the reply validating my email for them. But I am pretty careful about cleaning up all forwarded emails. But still, somehow I got on their friggin list. How do I stop it?

Change your address. Most ISP's allow multiple mail boxes. I have 3, one for me, one for the wife, and one for business. The business is the one i use for anything public, and thats where the spam goes. Another thing that seems to help is to frequently scan your computer for spy ware. I use ad-aware 6. Do a google search for ad-aware and you'll find sites to download it free.

How about Norton software?

When I went to a cable modem (effectively always connected), I installed Norton Personal Firewall/Security sofware, which can be configured any way you want, including blocking your personal infomation from being sent out while you're browsing. I know it's working, because I get alerts when it blocks "Trojan horse/sub-seven" attempts on my computer.

Still get 20+ spam messages a day, but then I've had the same email for four years now....

There are also programs out there that try to "figure" out what your email address is... even if you dont gove it out...
