In general terms I like the service from Essex. But if you're purchasing thru a dealer ask if they're onboard with Bank of the West a dealer only finance corp. They've given me a "one-time" drop in rate TWICE!! just over the phone giving me 2 points off from where I started....Otherwise, I'd shop multiple before deciding to ensure i was getting the best deal....

Have heard mostly good things about both of these.

WARNING: STAY AWAY FROM COASTLINE MARINE SALES

I,m with you on Coastline, just lost a sale, they wanted $60000 down on a $ 200,000 Formula, customers credit was excellent. If I had $60000 down I probrably wouln't need financing.

Did my original with Coastline, their rates are high but if you lean on them they will cave. :D I got them down a point which was BELOW everyone else.:p ;)

Trust me when I say rates have nothing to do with it. YOU WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH COASTLINE. EVER

I dealt with Coastline in September of 2001. They were very helpful and accommodating. Once the check was cashed, problems began to occur. I know what some people's issues with Coastline are. There are several parties involved and most of them aren't using good business ethics or practices. If you try and cheat a company your going to get it in the end!!

If you're former military, or a son/daughter of, then you should consider USAA. I used them and could not have a complaint! In fact, I have used USAA for several years and several loans of various nature and cannot find one bad thing to say.

A few months ago I called to have them lower my rate on a car and they offered (can you believe that a bank offered without me asking) to lower my rate to an unbelievable fixed 5% from my fixed 6% just one year earlier! At that time 5% was the absolute lowest around and I am MORE than content staying there until the cows come home.
