Slim Jim's?
As I sithere tonight reading all these posts, I am drinking a few cold 1's and eating Slim jim's. So I ask all of you this question ? "what the hell is a slim jim made of? I 'm from Philly so I eat scrapple.:crazy:

I think a Slim Jim is made of hog pecker all dried up in one of those Ronco dehydrator things.
I like em too, but really had rather not think about what theyre made of. |
I also eat those red pickled hot sausage things (red hots, tijuana mamas) that are kind of like spicy meatlike sawdust mixed up with cold bacon grease with a red skin that stains your clothes and fingers.

OH OK ! I had fried bull balls once with BBq sauce down in spring hill tenn. NOT!

I think theres some Swamp cabbage and a bit of BBQ Mullet suace in there too! :D :D
Actually one time while coming back from the keys we stoped at a rest area and i got a generic slim jims......after eating it i read the ingredients (big mistake!) and in the list there was "mechanicly sepperated chicken" WTF is that?!?!!? :confused: from now on i dont read anything!!! :D |

Well you need a big 'O rc cola cola and a 'moon pie " to go with that and then you would have a real 'down home feast"!!!
And don't forget the TUMS or ROLAIDS for dessert!! |

There is a diner here in Winter Park, FL. And it's called the Winter Park Diner by the way. They are right down the street from my shop and they serve Scrapple every morning. You can't believe how many people order it. Personally I like it. I'm orignally from Philly, Bucks County, and was brought up on Scrapple. I kept telling the diner about it and they ordered it. It is Hatfield Scrapple, which is VERY GOOD. I also use to live very close to Hatfield before I moved to Florida. Really, I don't care what it is made of. With some of the Southern food I see the red necks eat here....they have no room to talk. In fact I don't understand why the red necks don't eat Scrapple. |
Stopped in to pay for my fuel, saw a big container of Slim Jims on the counter, remembered this thread got a big smile on my face and hit the door:D

No scott Spam is NOT scrapple. scrapple is a mix of spice n beef n pork left overs all ground up into a food that we eat. it's mostly only in Philly. It is called scapple because it is all the scraps left over from a butcher so they add spices n grind it all up But damn it is great with eggs.

20 years ago I saw the local butcher shop make stuff like that ( meat by products) and haven't eaten sausage since then !!!

I have been in the meat bussness for over 20 years, and one thing I do know is if your not sure, don't ask. I think they are made out of the stuff that's not good enough for bologna.
