Motorized Stern Lights
Anyone know were I can find one? I am sick of going to the back and having it flicker and what not.

Yes, I'll dig up the info back at the office.
They're around $130. You can get black plastic trim or chromed plastic trim. 4' extension or 5' extension. I ordered 3 last Christmas. Two for friends and one for me. Haven't decided if I'm going to use mine or not. The factory Formula mast has exactly the right angles to not blind me while driving. I hate to give that up, cause it's not that big of a deal to crawl back and pop it on. Might consider selling mine. Never out of the box. |
Jon,
Innovative lighting in Algona Ia. makes a light like your looking for, I will get their address and other info and post tomarrow (info's at the office) jt |
jt29 is right, my Nordic has an Innovative Lighting unit and it works real nice.
Innovative Lighting Inc. 813 N Roan St. PO Box 494 Algona, IA 50511 515-295-9391 I have the owners manual with the specs if you'd like me to fax some pages to you. |

mcollinstn: Let me know if you want to sell it I may be interested. Is yours the chrome or black one?

Jon, I've got one on my boat. It came that way. I love it!
On mine, after I turn it on/raise it up, if I put the switch in the down position, it will flash SOS. It's a 3 position switch. I don't know who made it. |
Audiofn, what makes you want one of these all of a sudden?:)
|
Team I saw them at the Boston Boat show on a Baja and then you reminded me to ask about them :D:D
Thanks Jon |
They are the s***!!!
My next question, what are you doing up so early after being up so late?:D |

:D:D Ya we missed a whole room in there with those I think they are callled "go fast" boats? :D:D A buddy of mine purchased a boat there and I went in with him to check it out. When I was there I looked around again and saw another room that we missed. Made the show a little better but it still sucked :D:D

Mine's got chromed plastic trim.
We installed the other two in friends' boats with no issues. The unit works great. On both boats, the switch is tied into the existing light circuit. You do need to run one additional hot wire to the unit to power the motor. The negative wire from the original harness is used for ground, and the positive wire from the original harness is used to provide the trigger to raise or lower as well as the power to run the light bulb. They also come with a little shield you can move into position that blocks some of the light from blinding you. The units are really cool. I just look at my situation with the Formula and don't know if I'll ever use it. |
Yeah, they're way cool until they break... at 1:30am... when you're leaving a dock bar... and you are now illegal. Been there and done that on the last boat.
I'll keep my trusty manual one. Works every time. Bulb's easy to replace. |
Eddie Marine has them and a manual pull up version as well. Thinking about getting one myself and will definitely have one on the new boat...
