Oh yeah, and if anyone would like to experience a ride in my boat feel free to contact me, yes even you waterspeed,:p ;) :D :D
|
**** i can't beleive they even made the test....i bet they were to be there the day prior, showed up a day late...worked on the thing all day and then had to beg teague to leave dinner to go for a boat ride!LOL
why do people always say they have rpm left???...so the throttles were not at wot?? was the boat dialed in for cruising?? you spend time and money to not dial a boat to full potential?? or you just can't get it to go any faster??? seems like every boat pat builds has very large growing pains! i'm sure after someone else corrects them all??...it will be a different boat, but a different boat no one gets to test. i do like the boats. ps...don't confuse race boats and pleasure boats. |
Guys, thats my boat, Radio Active. (Not Blunder Struck). The article is 99% great, I don't know what the big deal is. When Teague got the boat it was not 100% dialed in , (I probably should have called WATERSPEED, he's an expert:rolleyes:) it was set up with 2" shorties and a badly programmed efi box on the port motor, running rich, hic-cuped, and stalled. The boat does not porpoise at any speeds, you do not need tabs at all especially in 6" chop. Thats the only thing Teague mentioned that was somewhat negative. I feel the article was rushed, I find a few errors , manual bolsters, ( see the 2 toggle switches on the dash by the Sony remote-thats for the elect.bolsters.) faulty Teague switchable mufflers, but I won't hold that against him:p and he did not wright the article, all Teague does is test them, some else writes the article, and I feel all Manufactures have the right to proof read, just for errors, which was not the case here.
The boat runs awesome, it now has 1" shorties, 2 perfectly running KE675's and on lake Ponchatrain with the same ****ty 6" chop we got 97.9, with about 150 rpms to go.(props were slightly reworked) My new Herings are much more responsive, better trottle response (did I say that right WATERSPEED) and I will let you know what the top speed is when we get some decent water. Bottom line I love the boat, its everything the manufacturer promised (exept 6' headroom:p ) and then some. Its a true rough water riding boat and does not porpoise like my 2 previous boats. Oh yeah, WATERSPEED, when you can afford, or borrow a boat equipped the same way, with the same motors, and you feel like you can tie my shoe laces, give me a call, I'd like to read that one opinioned so called article you wrote about step bottoms, if you got balls email it to me. Jeff Jassby SPWilson, thank you, the paint design is awesome, you did agreat job. |
When laying down that kind of SMACK for a boat, I believe a person is going to test drive the boat first no matter who says what about it and then he will make up his own mind.
BTW, Those 37' A/T's are nice, but it's the 32' A/T that's the RUNNER! :p |
I thought that this boat belonged to someone on the board. I watched as this boat was being built. Sweet ride. How do you like the 675 KE's?
|
MPALLY, I posted 2 posts before yours, read above. The KE625's are sweet, but the 825's would have been better:D

We had only certain props at the lake to test. 32 labbed bravo's and 34 labbed bravo's. Those motors are still pulling power and tourge all the way to the rev limiters. We were bumping them with the 32 and not able to get to full rpms with the 34's is what I meant. For me Joey, it was to see if the boat was a 100mph plus boat and that was proven. That is what I wanted. If someone wants to buy my boat and try to run it for all out top speed I know there is more. For me, I was satisfied with what we achieved.:D |
Where's the popcorn???
|
Some people just seem to know it all!!!!! Read the article this time Waterspeed. And Joe maybe you should leave your personal problems with AT offline. All in all this boat kicked a$$ and made a good impression with people that READ the whole article!
I am, by no means, consider myself an expert on this topic, but I understood what I read! Oh yea..just my .02!!!!! |
WATERSPEED, I sent you an email (PM). We all would like to read that article you supposedly wrote, please educate us. My (PM) also challenges you, in real water, c'mon, what you got to loose, after all you state you're an experienced racer, do you even have a boat. :p
I don't think we will be hearing from him, it's easier to hide behind that big bad screen, wishing I was a person with a real boat. |
jass....the boat does look GREAT....one of the COOLEST paint jobs out there!!!
|
This is a fun thread to read that's all I've got to say...
Nice boat Jeff. By the way, Marcus (aka Waterspeed) is a good guy and has owned several Outerlimits in addition to racing one in F2. He knows his stuff and has the $$$ to buy what he likes. You guys should actually talk some day. Who knows, maybe you'd actually discover that he is president (?) of a mortgage brokerage firm that writes mortgages in all 50 states and you build high-end homes. Who knows maybe you 2 could actually establish a mutually beneficial relationship...or you guys can disagree about boats! :D Marcus, glad to see that you're still able to stir stuff up! |
Jeff,
I see the boat is for sale in the Classifieds...you buyin a new one already? Sean |
Jassman...Read your email...
Sorry for the delay in responding. I was out getting a loan for my 1980 18' Bayliner. I take your comments to be immature and condescending...I have not attacked you or your boat (yet). I merely gave my opinion of the article and some of my personal experiences. I have not proclaimed myself as an "expert". As for your comments about affording a boat, nice maturity level.. If you would like to call me directly, I'll email my phone #... If you read my earlier post, I was coming from a safety at high speed approach, especially with the speeds and sheer number of boats at poker runs...Simply put, a boat that is chine walking is not safe..no matter what the circumstances. It can be a recipe for disaster. If the article does not fairly and accuratley represent your boat...why have Powerboat do a test with it...In fact, you admit that it wasn't dailed in yet...I'm sure that in rough water it runs fine, but it sure sounds a little different in the calm stuff. I believe that the history of the bottom design was for much larger boats, not for high speeds in flat water. Again, no expert design advice from me, just what I have heard. For the record Jassman, I don't have any personal issue with your boat, but your immature, baseless and classless attack on me personally that's another issue. We'll deal with that off the board... |
Hey Miller,
Thanks for the very kind words...Give me a call |
How come some people have the April issue now and some don't. :( :( :(
|
Wait a minute - this is all real enjoyable, but I thought the boat (supposedly) porpoised at speeds over 80. Now Waterspeed's last comment implies that AT's 37 AVH chine walks dangerously at high (poker run) speed.
Which is it, a chine walker or a porpoise? Or both? Or neither? Maybe it chine walks due to excessive pressure from the non-functioning Teague switchables? And maybe it porpoises because the custom paint is too heavy on the bow? I'm so confused. Entertained, but confused. :) And all you 37 AVH owners that are unhappy with your boats, you can send them to my attention - I'll take care of them for you :D Troutly, will help me out with this dangerous mission? :) :) |
I have my bucket of popcorn out for this one...
|
well just read the article in pb mag it says a lot. i even considered taking a AT owner up on a ride but there is to much negitive here to consider AT as an opption, i have been in the market for a 37 powerboat as some of you know, and i have been favoring outerlimits and i just made my mind up thanks for the offer AT but not for me and sounds like also for many others. but its only a oppinion not bashing! bob teage has a say in oppions he tested the boat and seems TO BE A STRAIGHT UP GUY AND HAS TESTED AND DRIVEN MORE BOATS THEN MOST MEMBERS ON THIS BOARD. it just did not perform that good. if he said it was beter then all the competition, people would fire off on that so its a no win oppinion. so get some more pop corn and lets see how this show turns out. LETS ALL KEEP :) ON OUR FACE.
|
joe...looking for a boat that has a cabin?? or not?...don't care??
|
Dockrocker: To be clear: My comment about chine walking is a general statement, not regarding this boat, but ANY boat. The same applies to my comment about high speeds at poker runs...Read it again...
|
AUDACITY
CABINS NICE BUT WHAT DO YOU HAVE , IM OPEN .YOUR PM IS FULL
|
cleared it!
|
Sorry, waterspeed, I misinterpreted. My bad.
Can someone please pass the popcorn? |

LETS ALL KEEP :) ON OUR FACE. As with any boat purchase I would recccomend to go look at the product and take a ride and make your own decesion. Do not let me , Audacity, Jassman, Marcus, Bob teague or anyone else,(well except your wife if you are married:D ) make up your mind. If you were considering AT and the only reason you are taking off your list is an article on a boat that is set up maybe quite differently than you are looking at ie 675 and 2 inch imco shorties), that is fine, that is your perogative, but whatever you do choose to narrow it down to take a test ride and make a decesion based on your experiences, not someone elses. Waterspeed, aka Marcus was simple stating his concern with any boat chine walking and running in close quarters like in a Poker Run. :D You are still welcome to go for a ride with me even if you deciede to get something else.:D i am sure I will see you around.;) :D |
I'm just a little curious as to why Jassman is selling his brand new boat. Does anyone know? It is a very nice looking boat.
|
AT has always had these rumors about the owner saying one thing and doing another...this even before i bought my AT....guess what....they were right...i got to see first had what goes on there!!!LOL..."come on down for the poker run, it will be ready"...show up no engine!LOL
my 32 runs GREAT...would i buy another one NEW?...maybe if the company got sold to someone with a spine!...no one ever says **** when pat doesn't come through on what he says or ON TIME....why,,,,because anyone buy'n a boat from him wants something...corrected, done the way the ordered it, repaired, or promised that better deal on their next boat from him...so they don't say ****!...I WAS ONE OF THEM...from day one i was...what changed for me....i don't need any of that BS anymore... so it's TOTALLY like pat to show up to a powerboat test not ready!!!....so for every time pat said; F that customer, 'we got new boats to build'...over sold and under delivered! maybe times are about to change! and i would love for any past employee to come on here and tell us different! we all know there is a revolving door there! and for good reason! |
Jassman, beautiful boat and even though there are only a few pictures the detailing comes thru, my hats off to the boys at Active they've rung a ton of speed out of a big boat with a huge eqiupment list. Obviously the boats going to be"tender" at speed, there's no such thing as a free lunch so there can't be much boat or drive in the water, learn to drive it and KNOW IT'S LIMITS. I am curious about the, generator, pressure water system, flat screen, microwave, refrigerator..........With the speeds this boat is capable of, I'm afraid you'll be cleaning out the cabin with a pitchfork after the first bigwater run chasing other legitimate 90mph boats. Hell, the Miller Lite cans barely survive in the strapped down Igloo on my boat ! Remember when it really gets snotty, slow down, cause eventually ya gotta open that cabin door ;)
Enjoy it, JD BTW After having a bunch of boats built over the years, each one faster but with fewer and fewer amenities, I now think of two small Igloo's as the epitome of luxury:D |
WickedWon, your right! But thats the nice thing about a custom builder, get it done your way, my opinion if you can't hose it down I don't want it. We have 2 boys and they make a mess at times.
Joe, as I recall the revolving door at AT has not been the employees choise. I also find it interesting that Jeff is sell it so soon I hear to buy a 42 AT, NorTech, or BlackThunder. |
To anwser some of the unanswered Questions, the boat has been for sale for about 1 month. I keep all my boats approx 1-2 years. I have a late model 2000 Cigerette Top Gun, which I still own a portion of till paid off, my best friend owns it, and 42ss Sonic. I miss the headroom of the Sonic. I have three children and we entertain quite frequent. The A.T. is the nicest riding and quality boat I've owned, it meets my criteria, except for headroom. Some of you also might know that I am working on a dealer type situation, as a silent partner only, for A.T. and another brand.
After listening to a few of guys from private emails, explaining that Marcus (WATERSPEED) is an ok guy, I calmed down and reread some of the posts, I took it too personal and let some of the popcorn posters :p :D get to me. The opening line and post I still feel was unproffessional but I also was embarrassed on the way I handled it, I elected to give Marcus a call anyways and straighten out our difference. :D |
very bold:D
|
ok ask don johnson he hhas 8 billion! tttt maybe he want one!
|
Now, who is paying for the first round of Corona's, Jeff or Marcus? :D
|
Nice move Jassman...
|
still wanna see WaterSpeed and Jassman race though!:D
|
Too Old...you're right and now that I have read the article it's not that bad an article...Now for the personel changes..WHY???..SPW knew his stuff and been in the business in some form longer than the owner..Boscoe , a great guy and been around and knowledgeable..both would at least attempt to return phone calls...There just seems to be alot of excuses down there(like Audacity said) and a time schedule is not in the companies dictionary. I am still amazed that there is not a test bed boat to experiment with or to give to Lake-X so that all the R&D does not fall all on the boat owner..I love the boats..high speeds aren't the challenge, it's having to deal with and deal with..over and over..
just an ex-owner...always a possible new buyer! |
Joey, hey, how've you been? When you have time could you do me a favor? Call Don Smith, (Smith Boats) whom you know well. Ask him what preperations were made to get the A/T to the P/B test and if he did, in fact, personally 'hang' it out the with me a few days before the test at, say, a solid 96+ in 2's with those 4 bladers. Make sure you ask about the old 'porpoise' problem, too. Heck, he's a boat builder and a kilo record holder and almost as crazy as I am on the water. I bet he noticed everything about the boat. I appreciate the chance for you to talk with him and let me know what he said. Thanks, Patrick

As with ANY profile on a boat in ANY magazine, it's the subtle comments that give a hint of a test driver's true feelings on a boat. The overt comments stating the niceties are obligatory in nature and provides the impetus for advertisement. Not saying the AT isn't a great boat, but the comments suggesting the PERFECT boat for EVERYONE's tastes and environment is a bit silly. Let's not forget that after all, they're made of fiberglass and wood and operate in a brutal environment. Each and EVERY boat will have it's flaws. The bottom line will ALWAYS be are you getting your money's worth unless it's not a problem to you....
Be loyal to your brand as long as they're loyal to you.... |
