Make Money Racing

There is no need to scroll down for the small print because there isn't any... this is for real, and it is cash. It's all part of the 2003 Reindl Powerboats One Design Series leasing program for the 2003 Great Lakes Silver Cup Series. One Design racers have a chance to win a $25,000 first place prize check made possible by local sponsors American Express Financial Group, H2Operformance.com, Propellers Online.com, Premier Performance Interiors, POC Inc., WEBN radio, and a sponsor to be named at the Cincinnati Offshore Grand Prix June 14-15, 2003. Add that to the larger prize purse made possible at every race by GLSCS title sponsor Formula Powerboats, and the winning racer could walk away with over $33,000 cash. The cost of the lease is a reduced $3500 per race ($24,500 on the current 7 race schedule – only $12,250 per person for the entire season). “These are all cash awards, no contingency funds – you can go purchase a new car, put it in the bank, do whatever you want with it – somebody could end up making $8000 racing this series,” said Chris Reindl of the funds. Imagine becoming a professional offshore powerboat racer and coming out financially ahead at the end of the season. Reindl Powerboats manufactures the exotic, sexy and unforgettable Ocke Mannerfelt designed “Bat boat.” Each boat is available for lease to individuals, amateur and pro, who want to race in a professional racing venue such as the American Powerboat Association.

So what's the catch? There really isn't one, (this is about as small as the print will get). Requirements include; leasing a Reindl One Design Series boat, providing a driver and/or throttleman team of up to four people, and being the best of the best. Oh yeah, one more thing, just because you have your diploma doesn't mean school is over... Reindl also includes for each new One Design racer an intense, full day race school where you will not only learn how to handle the “bat boat,” but where you will also learn valuable safety measures and racing rules. Reindl Powerboats takes care of the rest for you, it is that simple. RPB will trailer the boat to each race site, crew included. They also maintain every leased boat, ensuring each is in top racing form. All of the boats run identical, hence the name One Design, so its driver against driver and throttleman against throttleman.

Get ready for a fantastic 2003 racing season, especially when you participate in the Great Lakes Silver Cup Series. Check out the Great Lakes Silver Cup Series schedule at: www.silvercupseries.com.

its down to $3500 per race???? Is that per person (7000 total) or for the boat so 350 total if so that is pretty f-ing cheap to race.

Cincinnati Race 03-15-2003 04:30 PM

$3500 per race for the GLSCS Series and $4500 per race for the Pro Series.

Basically it boils down to $1750 per person per race.

$2500 prize purse per GLSCS Race.

Additional $25,000 1st place prize check for the winner of the GLSCS Series - all cash.

Allan4 03-16-2003 01:19 AM

These boats are really fun to race, and the price is great. Think about it, only $1,750 per race.....for an entire boat and crew to back you up!!

As a good freind of mine once said refering to life...."This ain't no practice run"

HAve fun, be safe.....ALLAN

Cincinnati Race 03-17-2003 08:18 AM

Allan,

You sure are right about it not being a practice run, where else can you race boats and come out ahead at the end of the day?

Mr. Offshore

Great Program, hopefully somebody will take advantage of it.

For all those that need a place to start, this is it you wont ruin your family boat yet be able to compete in a national level class.
Once you race once you will be addicted to the rush, it is a great starting point.

Cincinnati Race 03-17-2003 11:42 AM

Pete,

Not only a great way to get started, but a great way to test yourself in identical equipment against some of the best racers in the world.

Look at all the teams like Team Virgin (former One Design National and World Champions - led to F2 World and National Champs & 2nd place at Worlds in Super Cat), Fisher Racing (current One Design National Champion and currently runs the
F2-22 Donzi), Jim Arvis and Mountain Dew (too many titles to list here), Audacity Racing (F2-21 Donzi), Twisted Styx (One of the top F2 teams), Harwich Concrete Block (another top F2 Team), Patriot Offshore (F1 Team), Boomer Hukari and Erick Treadwell (Ran F2 in the worlds and will be running F2 this year), Fountain Direct.com (Former F1 team will be racing this year in a new boat this year), Granville of Warlock, Scott Utah (F2 racer), and many more I am sure I am missing.

TLee,
It is also a great way for those intrested in being part of the crew as well, it opens a variety of doors for those willing to work hard and be part of a team.

Hey everyone, check out my latest story on an up and coming race team, Rumble Phish-Razor. I know I have never seen anything like this one and pictures do the boat no justice... It is definitely an eyecatcher.

Alright I have some questions for you experienced race guys.

I have had conversations with a couple of businesses that may be interested in sponsoring a race team. These conversations have been primarily with businesses in the heating and cooling industry. Thought it would be neat to have a boat for a specific industry. Also hoping other businesses in different trades like electrical etc. may follow.
Is any partial sponsorship from boating or engine manufactures available??

Also need to know about insurance requirements and costs.
What type of education is needed to be safe and successful??

Would it be helpful to find a team and volunteer time to learn??
Which class is the best to start with??

Any information would be appreciated.

Cincinnati Race 03-18-2003 04:16 PM

Steven,

One Design is certainly the way to start out. They put every racer through a race school and the result so far is three years and no colisions in One Design.

There is no insurance on race boats, you have to be able to stand to loose everything, another reason One Design is incredible is they take that risk for you.

As for sponsorships, Chris Reindl would be the one to talk to there. He finds sponsors for the boats and is able to pass on the benefit to the racers - for example the $25,000 first place prize put up by his GLSCS One Design Spoonsors.

The business number to Reindl Powerboats is (513) 794-1999 and his on site cell is (513) 706-3199

Best of luck,

Word on the water is the GLSCS is almost sold out - and a few of the larger teams are doing the One Design Pro tour. Once all the teams are announced, I will do a follow up story on the class.

Reindl Powerboats 03-22-2003 07:52 PM

We only have one full boat and one seat in another boat left for the GLSCS. Thank you all for the great response. We will release a story on all the teams and their sponsors just before the season starts May 30th in Eastlake, (Cleveland) OH.

Mr. Offshore,
Thank you for the bonus sponsorship package and prize money. Hopefully someone will take advantage of it.

Mr. Offshore,

Just so I understand your program, you are doing cash up front as well as an encentive for winning races. Do you want to elaborate online or would you rather have teams email you?

Performance Is The Answer offshore racing team plans on racing the GLSCS. Our sponsorship campaign is in full swing with some great possibilities. This series has great spectator venues. There is no other class that can win that kind of $$$. Even if you race Super Cat your prize money wont cover your cost like this class will. I look forward to taken home all the cash.
