I got stopped for noise level last year. I was at 89db running 50+ feet from water patrol. The law is 86db. He didn't test me at idle. I got a warning ticket and have since installed Shotgun mufflers.

Since they passed the "idling" version of the noise restriction law a few years back, thay have not been too bad.
Unless you have BIG supercharged motors, dry pipes, and no mufflers, you should be OK. Just dont draw too much attention to youself.

Funhome,
Yes they are grandfathered in.
They cant enforce the "idle" method on older boats, but they can enforce the old XX dB at 50 ft law on all boats.
The problem with that one was that it was difficult to get an accurate reading, therefore, VERY difficult to enforce.
They mainly just enforce the idling version now when they can.
Like I said, keep a low profile.
If your running 90mph at 2AM with supercharged 572s, dry pipes, and no mufflers, you'll get pulled over.
Wait till 3AM instead, the WP turns in for the night at 3 ;-)
