RADAR Enforced Boating in SW Fl.
Found this of Fl. Sportsman's website.
"I have never seen this before. An FWC boat was actually running radar speed enforcement in front of the Lover's Key ramp yesterday. There were two guys in the boat and one had a hand-held radar unit. They had a boat "pulled over". The speed limit in Estero Bay is 25 MPH. I can sort of understand enforcing idle zones but 25 MPH? C'mon... I've never understood what is magic about the 25 number anyway. I really don't understand that how anyone can accurately monitor their speed without GPS. I ran dual Airguides in my tournament ski boat and they were not all that accurate. Not for radar anyway. FWC law enforcement clearly has it's priorities confused. Speeding at 30 MPH in a 25 MPH zone is not a substantive issue. These guys need to get out of the traffic cop mode and get focused on fisheries violations and on the water crime. FWC LE is always complaining about how they are understaffed to do the meaningfull work that they are uniquely qualified to do. Yet they squander their manpower on this sillyness. Leave the traffic to local PDs and S.O.s. It's their job." NJ GUYS, as far as the NJ speed limits arguement that the WP can't enforce speedlimits on the water, with radar, BE ADVISED, FL. is presently doing it!! MD |

I don't think my 39 express cat would get on plane at 25 mph !:(

I've said it before and I'll say it again: IT'S ABOUT THE MONEY!!
I'm sure all the cops on this forum will pontificate and rationalize about safety and how routine traffic stops have resulted in major arrests, blah, blah, etc. How about utilizing manpower efficiently and proper investigative techniques to fight REAL crime. |
The water Nazi's are coming..

Man that is a little harsh!!!! Guess we better all get Differential (sp) GPS so that we can make sure we are on target with our speeds!!!

I would love to go through there with my rig at 25 with the tabs all the way down and rock them right out of their little boat with a 2 foot wake.
