I gotta agree with you on that one.

I saw a red one going north on I-55 this morning pulling a Chapperal cabin cruiser (looked to be about 28 feet). It looked like the ant trying to move the rubber tree plant!!!:D

woops there goes another rubber tree.

Okay all this being said, what exactly is the tow rating for yours or any Durango with the V-8? Waht's your normal boat tow weight?...

Jolley 03-24-2003 07:50 AM

From some press releases.( I've pulled alot more weight than recommended)

1999 Dodge Durango 5.9 V8 7,400 / 2003 Durango seating for up to eight passengers and a towing capacity of over 7,500 pounds. / 2002 Durango has a 7,550-pound maximum towing capacity and a standard 1,670-pound maximum payload package.

Thanks Jolley. That's actually more than I thought. Sounds like it's right there with an F-150...

Lucy--

It will stop just fine. I have an Eagle trailer with BIG brakes on all four wheels. When you apply the brakes the trailer actually pulls back against the truck and helps stop it too. I always check the trailer brakes and make sure they are adjusted properly with regular fluid changes and bearing greasings. My total boat and trailer are around 6000 lbs loaded which is below the trucks ratings.

We hooked up the 24 Outlaw yesterday to the 99 Durango. It pulled just fine. It was a little slow getting up on the highway with the boat in tow though. Other than that it was real smooth. Ron is drooling over a new Dodge pickup right now. I think we will keep the Durango for this summer at least. Here we are pulling the boat back up to the garage-
