Should you swap drives from side to side every 100 hrs

I was told that I should swap drives from side to side every 100 hrs. or so. So I keep even were.

It depends on what side of the shifter you have the cables. The cone clutch does not know what way it is turning.

I have been told that this is common practice. I recently had the seals replaced in my Bravo xr's and the mech told me that my gear set had a crack in one of the teeth and would need replacement, but just to run until it lets go. I suggested swapping sides and he said it is a NoNo. Tres said its OK. I am confused also.........

the answer is yes. actually i would do it every 50, but it depends how hard you run the boat.

the reason why.

one drive turns clockwise and one turns counter clockwise. sooooooooooooooo to get even wear on the gears and longer life if you have the time then do it. also remember to grease the gimble bearing and drive yoke every time weather you think it needs it or not.

timucin 03-19-2003 07:45 PM

is there any drive-life period?

rbtnt 03-19-2003 07:49 PM

Check your gears very closely, several of us had bad ones in our XRs last year with 50 hours and less. There was a very long post about them and gear lube.

timucin 03-19-2003 07:59 PM

its told as 'everybody is disappointed from XR's'
is it true?

what was the name of the post can you remember?
thnx
