YEP AND YEP,I took her in for a simple valve spring job and got alot more than I bargained for. Port engine rusty valve springs
manifolds shot, water in cylinders scorned piston

Starboard Engine water in cylinders number 7 cylinder 90 on compression check . Sludge under intake from water

Guess what that equals .2 engines for rebuild

Srobak- I am not sure what to think at this point I don't want to start pointing fingers. Bottom line is I should have insisted on a compression check. I ask the surveyor to perform one and his response was that it was not possible for him to do it when the survey was done on the hull. I'm not sure what recourse I will have I doubt any. I was told by one dealer that when they sell a boat that they go through the engines, outdrives and the rest of the boat to make sure that there are no problems. I realize that this is a used boat but I was shocked when I saw the problems with the engines. I have not even drove this boat since I have received it. This just really BITES.

i rented a private plane yesterday and we had some minor mechanical issues on our second take off. the pilot was a bit upset about a recent engine rebuild. i told him this is nothing compared to owning an offshore boat.

vagrant, find an HONEST person to do the rebuilds or you'll be in the same situation again.

The manifolds are gills with the short risers( bad deal) The manifolds are not in bad shape. I am going to change over to Stainless marine with new risers.
