Merc Blue Paint, Want some cheaper?

I just paid over $20.00 a can for the High Performance Merc Blue paint! I am checking into a custom aerosol about matching and supplying me with the paint. I am ordering 24 cans to start. (If it matches)

My question is If this paint is as good as the merc and matches, how many would be interested in purchasing them at $10.00 a can? price may be more and it may be less $$ but I want a feel for how popular this may be.

take a valve cover or pulley or something with that blue to a automotive paint store and i believe they could hook you up with a color that would be durable and spray out of a gun. and in the long run cheaper.

I would be interested in a can, especially if it is better quality paint.

I would have Mitcher T custom paint your new motors.;)

I could be wrong, but I think there is some pearl in the Factory paint.

Raypanic 03-22-2003 07:23 AM

I painted a sample yesterday and sent it off to them, It is a metalic for sure and may have some pearl in it too.

From my reaserch it seems merc must fill them themselves. The package from duplicolor only includes propellent and solvent. They buy a machine that injects the color pigments in the can that is allrerady pre-charged. Yes they had to pay for the machine but $21.50 (From BAM) a can is robbery.

From what I have seen I can get them significantly cheaper and sell them for $10.00 or so and still make a couple of bucks each to cover my expenses. A win / win for everybody that wants some.

We paint our engines with Imron 333 series industrial coatings...its the same thing merc uses. Our cost is 34$ a gal plus you need a qt of activator and a cup of accelerator. You can match the color easily...its a stock blue from the imron chart.
