Shopping for a lift....

I am beginning to research the purchase of a boat lift for the Sutphen (30' Ocean Pacer). The current owner of the house said that is not needed but would help early Spring boating to have a low water lift.

What is the difference between a regular lift and a "low water lift?"

What is a good lift to buy?

How much money should I pay for a new and or used lift?

Keep in mind this is the LOTO and I was told by the guys a CPR to get an 8000lbs lift.

I know 2 people selling lifts. Both had 2002 Top Guns on them. They are both at Grand Lake in OK. They are both Hydrohoists with full decking. Very nice. I can give you their phone numbers if you want.

Sounds great

Here is a silly question though,,, wouldn't that be too big of a lift? My boat is 8' shorter or can they be easily modified?

It is possible for the lift to be too big...believe it or not...

2 years ago my 28ss was stored on a 15,000lb lift and it was a real bear to launch the boat. Youhad to pay close attention to the lift as it was going down, because it could get away from you and not sink level...not part of that may be due to operator erro, but I had to have a "professional" show me how to launch the boat and he even said the lift was too big....food for thought.
