Maybe in that light of a solution it wouldn't tarnish it, but at that light, I can't see it doing much more than the plain water would. Either way, I wouldn't risk it on SS. I saw a guy use it to clean a new tile floor in a restaurant, it turned all the SS legs on equipment black. He spent a couple grand having the tarnish ground off. We use sulfamic acid to clean floors, it won't tarnish SS. It can be bought at Home Depot in the tile department for about $5. It is in granular form. You cannot make it too strong, the water will only hold so much of it in solution, and the rest will percipitate to the bottom.

you'll be hard pressed to find cleaner hardware on a boat than this...unless it came from the box...even my trim tab SS lines sparkle...as well as all the bolts :D
