go to eddie marine or teague and look at the switchable exhaust tips .... the go on in place or your exhaust tips and are switchable from open to baffled by electric switches...

I would go with the Teagues. They are great for supressing sound and work real well. Plus they company knows what customer service is. They do cut the sound just a bit when they are open but closed it is like I have through hub.

Barcat, if your friend is in New York, NY state requirement is "90 decibels or less when subjected to a sound test at the dock, or 75 decibels or less when measured while operating at any distance from shore. It is illegal to install muffler cutouts or bypass on any boat." Basically, captains call, etc and varoius systems are illegal and can be ticketed, if officer is a pr_ck. He may wish to look at a shotgun silencer type product.

You can mount the tips 1/2 way or all the way under the waterline...Idle, sounds like a Jacuzzi, on plane, sounds good. Not sure if you want to re mount tips though!! Corsa makes some silenced tips, I think 8db quieter than strait trough, 390 a pair though.
