Active Thunder delivers

I took delivery of my Active Thunder ’37 AVH yesterday, and drove it up the coast of Florida to Cape Canaveral. The performance was outstanding, not one problem along the way, reconfirming that I had made the right choice in boats. I have really enjoyed working with Pat, Diane, Stan, and of course Tim over the past few months. In an industry that over promises and under delivers, the team at Active Thunder really does deliver on their promise of a great product.

We started our quest for a new boat last year at the Miami Boat Show. After years of being out of the performance boat world, I had to come up to speed on new hull designs, and new technology. We narrowed our search to 8 different companies, did the research, and took numerous demo rides. The demo rides alone eliminated much of the competition. Our ability to customize and configure the boat was a huge selling point for us, and Active Thunder allowed us to do just that. This was the deciding factor, as some of the competition did not offer a cabin much less amenities.

Active Thunder gave us exactly what we were looking for: a 37 step hull that would run in the mid-80’s with 500 EFI’s, a full cabin with v-birth, a salon, full service gym and spa ( okay, I made that part up), enclosed head with shower, a galley with refrigerator, and microwave, all toped off with beautiful corian counter tops. Also included was a DVD player (read: porn flicks), flat screen monitor, satellite radio, and a fabulous sound system inside and out. And to keep it all comfortable, it also came with air conditioning powered by a Mase 2.5kw genset. All this in a boat that has an incredible ride and ran 84 mph on the GPS straight out of the factory.

I have been boating for 30 years, hold a Coast Guard Masters License, and have been involved in the refitting and commissioning of numerous vessels, and this was by far the most pleasurable experience I’ve had yet.

Although, my girlfriend never did get the breast implants as promised, we did get a great compass. Can’t have everything!
