Things to check on the boat
I was working on my boat the other day and pulled out the flares and looked at them to be amazed that they were over a year out of date. OOOOOOOPS. Just figured it would be a good idea to compile a list of things to go through to make sure we all have a safe boating season.
Flares not out of date? All life jackets ok and sized properly for all passangers? Tighten all steering assemblies and drive brackets Replace water pump impellers Oil change Shift and throttle cables working freely. Ok now you guys add to my short list Jon |
Check your fire extinguishers and/or automatic halon systems!
Check your belts for any wear. Check your Zincs. Grease your zirk fittings Check the operation of your nav lights. Test your Fume/CO detectors. Check your bilge(auto float) pump operation. |
Make sure the flame arrestors are polished to a mirror-like finish.;)
|
make sure bilge blower works and tubing is properly hooked up.
Batteries are fully charged. and connections are clean and covered. (Coasties will hit ya for no covers!) |
Make sure First Aid kit is stocked. Although a box of tampons will do the same thing.

Lets not forget the tool box.....including spare parts like belts and impellers (like audio said).....
And double check that bilge pumps work too!! |
Of course, too often overlooked, check your drain plug before the first plunge. ;)
|
Check the balance in your bank account.
|
and carry a spare onboard too! Or a cork to plug the hole. :D
|
Get your grab handles redone with boat name included, install new crane rockers and 2 piece valve covers, And don't forget to ck your bank balances:p
