Cignificant how`s the hyd steering???

Hey Steve,

How did you make out with the Hydraulic steering system? A buddy of mine is going to order one this week.

Kurt

I'm waiting on the final wing plates, but the system works. I fired up my engines last week and it steers great sitting in the driveway.

I'm going to try to splash it this coming weekend. I'll report again afterwards.

John (maxx) is installing mine next week. I can't wait!!!

Steve, Are you going to splash Saturday or Sunday. If the weather holds out, I woluld like to get mine wet Sunday. I have a class on Saturday and I am working 4x12. We are in a shutdown, at work. Stockpiling gas/soda money, you know!!!!

Allan4 04-02-2003 07:14 PM

Myself and another OSO'er just ordered a dual ram assist set up. I will be happy to report back after I run it. I went to their shop and checked over the system. I am not a steering expert, but it looked like a very reliable system and Brain (Alfster) and Buzz come accross as very trusting, knowledgable and legitimate. I felt comfy enough to buy a setup.

I think they will do very well with their systems, yet I would advise anyone to do their own research.

Hope I didn't step on someone else's thread here.......:(

So, is this the new steering system that was developed by OSO members from that thread in the Tech section. If so, I'm very interested. Sounds like a great effort and great system.

Rob/Baja, yes this is the steering system that was discussed in the technical forum.

Giz, I just checked the weather. Looks like Friday afternoon for me...

Steve, I've been in Chester since last Sunday setting up my new Home Depot account for the Richmond area. I've been staying at the Chester Hampton Inn and frequenting the Hooters down the street...:D I'm here until Friday afternoon then back to the beach in time for happy hour with the bubba's. Actually we just got back from "Sylvester's" and harassing the karaoker's. I'll be back up here just about every week from here on out to cover my operations. We'll have to hook up...

Rick, let me know the next time you're in town. I live 15 minutes from Chester.

I splashed Friday afternoon in the James River. Everything worked as described!! Because of debris in the water I wasn't able to open her up, but I can certainly tell the difference. I can't wait to get it into some big water. Maxx is still working on my final wing plates and reservoir bottle, but the temporary set up I have works fine. I can take my hands off the wheel and nothing moves - stays on a straight line.

:) :) :) :) :)

Steve has proven to be the perfect choice for this proto-type, he knows his way around a motor and isn't afraid to get his hands dirty. He, also, has the patience of a saint; with a new system there is always something that needs changing or modifying.
We are experiencing a delay problem with our laser cutter source:mad: I am waiting on more wing plates and few parts for Steve's new wing plates. We have learned a valuble lesson with out-sourcing: DON'T DO IT!!! as soon as we are able, we will be purchasing our own CNC plasma arc cutter so we won't be faced with this situation in the future. Everything else is going great, we have just performed our first function on a CNC lathe/turning center and are very pleased with the results.:D
