I asked doug to post this cause he is a good friend and I ca't do attachments for some reason.
This bill will help people in the future not have to go thru the pain
that my family is going thru.
My brothers killer might walk with no jail time and no record.
This is tearing us up inside.This Bill if passed will require jail time
If you leave the scene of a fatal accident.There is no law in place at the present time.
Now it's time for OSO to show the state of new jersey That we
will not stand by and let one of our own die in vain.
You all welcomed me into this boating family when dan was killed
Now I am asking you all to help us get this law passed.
I need to know that something good will come out of this senseless act.This bill if passed will not help in dans case but it
will help people in the future.On behalf of the Lanza family I thank you all.
If you knew dan or diden't know him it's ok ,You can all help to make a difference.

The pic of my brother with the beer in his hand was one of the last good times we had before he was killed.
So if we offended you with a picture with a beer in it we are sorry.
that picture came directly from my family and we want people to remember the good times.
This thread was put up to ask for help not for any other reason.

All, I just pulled this from the national AP wire. Looks like Dan's law to me. Hopefully, the wheels are starting to turn....

TRENTON, N.J.(AP) -- Drivers guilty of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident where someone is killed or injured now face prison terms and increased fines.
New sentences include prison stays of up to five years and fines of $5,000. Old regulations mandated only a maximum fine of $1,000 for first offenses.
"The penalties included in this law will hopefully prevent future victims, by instilling appropriate penalties for the cowardly and callous act of leaving the scene of an accident," Sen. Stephen M. Sweeney, D-Gloucester, said Friday. Sweeney, whose brother was seriously injured in such an accident, sponsored the bill.
Gov. James E. McGreevey signed the bill into law Wednesday. His office made that fact public on Friday.
Nationally, nearly one in five pedestrians killed in traffic accidents is the victim of a hit-and-run crash, according to a study released Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
In New Jersey, legislators cited figures from 2000 that said 33 hit-and-run accidents caused 35 deaths.
"Many hit-and-run fatalities could have lived, had the driver stopped to call for help," said Sen. John A. Girgenti, D-Passaic.
Other lawmakers said the new penalties should remind drivers of the severity of the crime.

I am sorry for your loss. I do not know the facts of what happened, but we recently had a tradgety here in Dallas due to a hit and run. Two guys came upon an accident between a car and a truck. They got out of their car to pull a guy from his burning car. Just as they began to move away from the car a BMW traveling over 100 MPH topped the hill and hit them. It killed the two good samaritians and injured the already injured driver (from the burning car). The driver of the BMW kept going, never even slowing down during the whole thing. Ended up turning himself in the next day. Turned out to be a NFL Dallas Cowboy's player on his way back from a strip joint at approx. 2:00am. He has been charged with several felonies including failure to stop and rendure aid.
I don't understand how or why someone would not stop. Once agian sorry for your loss.
